IVC Tutorial ???
-
Is there an IVC tutorial somewhere. A buddy and I have been flying BMS 4.33 for couple months now using TeamSpeak and thought we would finally give IVC a try. We can get it to work up until going into the jet (3D). I will try to give a play by play to see if someone can see something we are missing.
I launch the IVC server.
We both launch the client.
We both launch BMS 4.33 (64bit)
He hosts the Comms and I host IVC and we connect. IVC is working with default frequencies (UHF 292300 and VHF 1234) with pressing both F1 and F2.
Enter campaign and IVC still working.
We both enter frequency 123.400 as VHF Channel 7 and make it the default in the Data Cartridge. Save and Load Data Cartridge. IVC is still working.
We enter 3D. Get our jets up and running. Radio set to ‘Both’. Comm1 and Comm2 volume turned up. Data Cartridge loaded.
Press Comm2 button on front panel. ICP says we are on Channel 7 and Frequency is 123.400.
Try to transmit with Alt F2 (VHF) and nothing. We try F1, F2, AltF1 and AltF2 and nothing. Can anyone see something we are missing?
We can get it to work by checking ‘Force Local Control’ in the IVC Client Window, but seems to make it function like TeamSpeak. Always on.
We have read the manual, I have read things found on google and read posts here, but no joy.
I found a .pdf file from a Virtual Squadron that gives pretty good direction, but this file seems to be a tutorial more for new recruits not flying and simply listening in from outside 3D environment and I don’t know if this is for old version of BMS or what. It says to run BMS in window mode, which we tried and had some success, but kept having to click on client to make active, but seems like would lose it once back in BMS.
I also read something about entering BMS in 32bit mode, which we tried, but didn’t work, so we went back to 64bit.
We have also tried creating our own shortcut for IVC Client and putting the keyhook in ( /k ), but again no joy.
We can go out of BMS and click the IVC client and talk over IVC, but not in 3D.
Maybe not supposed to use default frequencies in 3D?
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

what keyfile are you using ?
F1 F2 are for UI but in game its normally mapped to some other key or key combo for example in the BMS -Basic key file I think VHF is set as end button and UHF is home button
you can check if your using correct key by watching the DED and if when you press the comms switch the UHF or VHF gets highlighted and gets slightly bigger you know your transmitting

Ninja,
We are using my own keyfile that I modified from BMS - Basic I believe because we were having ThrustMaster programming issues with multiple key holds, so I remapped a few, but not these. We are trying to use Alt F1 and Alt F2 to transmit ‘in game’ (3D), so maybe that is our problem. I thought End and Home simply selected Comm1 and Comm2, like pushing the buttons on ICP, but that is what I get for thinking.
Thank you and thank you for the info about the DED changing. That should help. We will try and report back.

Ninja,
I just went and did a test by myself and that appeared to work. Home = UHF transmit and End = VHF transmit in 3D. Now I feel stupid. I don’t know where we got Alt F1 and Alt F2 from for in game.
Hopefully it will work when my buddy and I try later this afternoon. Thanks a ton! You won’t believe how much time we wasted trying to find a solution. Arggggh!!!

Talon it could well be not sure as I use my own keyfile but check the DED to see if it changes
I do think its a key mapping issue some how though as it works in UI with F1
you can test it in SP though as it uses same key the DED will still change just wont go anywhere as no one is there to listen
alt+f1 was iirc on older versions of Falcon
Glad it works bud should be ok for MP as well

Ninja,
Yes, we have no problem in UI using F1 or F2. Problem was just in game (3D) and we read somewhere to use Alt F1 and Alt F2 in game, but we got nothing.
I just tested solo and Home and End were highlighting the UHF and VHF on DED as you said and I was also hearing transmit sound (click). Hopefully we are good when I test in real multiplayer later. Thank you!!!
