I have been informed over at CH Hangar that I am supposed to use Direct Mode in CM.
Did that. Still no luck except for some reason can assign Drop Chaffe to a button.

Here is maybe another really stupid question…… Do I even need to install CH Control Manager?
The Combatstick is recognized in the BMS 4.33 U2 Controllers without installing it.
Can it be programmed totally within the game??
I apologize in advance if I am missing something obvious.
I installed BMS 4.33 U2. All was well.
I installed CH Control Manager 4.55 and calibrated the Combatstick.
All buttons worked and throttle wheel worked.
My CH Combatstick 568 USB was recognized in controllers in BMS 4.33 U2.
I setup throttle in Advanced.
I loaded the Full Keyboard map in the game.
Was not sure how to program the buttons in the game, but figured that out I think by clicking on a key command and then the button.
All of my chosen commands appeared to be assigned OK in the game Controller section.
I then click Apply and then OK.
I go into the game and the only thing that works is steering and the throttle wheel. None of the button assignments work.
Using the keyboard to do commands does work.
Ok, so I did some more reading and went back into CH Control Manager and loaded a Falcon 4 map and downloaded it and then put the CH Control Manger into Map mode.
Went back into game.
The device now showed up as CH Control Manger Device 1 (rather than CH Combatstick 568 USB) in the Controllers section in the game.
Everything seemed to be working fine. Hit Apply and then OK.
Still no response to the key assignments on buttons in gameplay.
Not sure what I am missing here.
Any help appreciated.
