RE: EA6- prowler/A6 Intruder version
Would love to see a nice A-6 Intruder. I spent my Navy career fixing them and Prowlers. Miss the old bird, but not the exfoliation corrosion

RE: New 180 degree screen
How many projectors are you running? I run two Optomas. Does your picture look grainy, and are getting any gamma issues at your blend point?
I run 2 BenQ 2150STs. Nothing grainy and Gamma is fine at the Blend, I think the darker screen is helping there. Only thing I don’t like about two is any bump of the projectors screw up the alignment which is very noticeable when the line is directly in front of you. Three PJ s is much better in that respect.

RE: New 180 degree screen
Are you using simpit Warp or another warping software. I have an Icarus 180 also, but am not currently using it because I’m thinking about getting another warping software. Don’t really simpit warp.
SimPit warp is just Fly Elise rebranded. I just went with Fly Elise Immersive Display and Immersive Calibration Pro and saved money.
There’s not a whole lot else on the market. NTHUSIM got bought and closed (well brought in house and no longer public available) . NatVis Tru View is Fly Elise rebranded

RE: New 180 degree screen
Very nice! How did you make the screen?
Actually picked it up from SimPit Tech in New Zealand. Shipping wasn’t bad. Its all laser cut MDF frame and fits nicely in a smaller box than I thought. Putting it together is interesting. Screen is basically a thick rolled plastic with a dark grey matte coating on one side. It does make the colors pop and since the PJs are so close you don’t lose much in brightness

RE: New 180 degree screen
Hey Arty, I’m getting up there myself….having the big screen means no glasses
Not enough screen for a third PJ, but with the dark screen and FlyElise Blending, so can barely see the overlap of the two PJs

RE: Virtual Reality (VR) and BMS.
Anyone have experience with Pimax?
I am looking at getting a Samsung Odyssey or Pimax (better FOV and resolution) for my 1st VR head set. It seems like Odyssey can work with BMS, at least functioning as a monitor strapped to your head. Odyssey seem like an all inclusive device that I have been looking for, 6 DOF with 1 to 1 tracking and OK resolution (reduced screen door effect) in one device. I have a very small area for gaming and don’t want to clutter it with devices (trackir and other sensors). Having 3D objects in stereoscopic effect is not important as long as the device can function like a monitor in game.
I’m not trying to put down Pimax, but a real concern I have about Pimax is that it is a small company in China and they might be just trying to capitalize on the VR buzz to make a quick buck. Their hardware seems awesome, but does software for the device play an important role in VR (I don’t know much about VR yet)? If so, would Pimax keep supporting their product once it’s out, or are they going to move on to their next (more profitable) project/hardware? If software is as important as hardware for VR devices, I don’t want to have a very expensive paper weight after 1-2 years of purchasing the device.
I am a backer of the 8k Pimax headset. Seems we are getting closer to delivery but they have blown through some expected dates as expected.
