An improvement for stock korea city tiles
-
@Arty: Yes, and…? Maybe it is/was the first step…
Overall:
These stock city tiles give not much to improve.
Do someone know…, if it is allowed to use Google Maps for this…?Greeting
EarlybiteEarlybite excuse me sincerely. I don’t criticize. Every addition modification for the better is more than welcomed…
My runway tiles suck for example… cause they are based on the stock ones.
I was asking just to clarify. I wasn’t able to view your pics on a desktop pc - browser, I was on my phone and cause the resolution of your screenshots is low I couldn’t see the difference.Your saying :“These stock city tiles give not much to improve.” Says it all.
Nice work m8.

very nice earlybite! you have good idea.
-
Hi,
great problem…, the perspective.
The higher buildings are, the worse they look…
I really do not know if I can handle this…
(At least not at that resolution.)Til then

One way to minimize this ugly effect (impossible to eradicate completely, as they are flat images): With satellite photographs with perfect overhead perspective.

Hi!
You mean to minimize the perspective, the angle of viewing? If so, that was also one thought I had, but that isn’t possible with Google, or Bing Maps, isn’t it? And a work over with paint.net has not really an effect on the perspective…
The other idea is to reduce the resolution of the map (if you know what I mean). The pic was from a map with a resolution of 50m…
Overall, it always will be a balance act, yes? Thanks for your advice!

Modify the prospect of a photo, in fact, it is impossible.
We must find photos with perfect zenith angle, or almost (a little perspective is acceptable, but too much). It is a job search.

Hi,
thank you again for your reply! Now I’m absolutly sure that I understood you correctly…
(Just tried with great res, but this will not be the solution… It would need maybe four layers for north, west, east, south, with changing the layer by direction of your flight.)
BTW: Do you accidentally know if Bing, or Google updates (in my case Korea) map(s)?
Anyway: Thanks for your advice, sir!

In F4Spain we not work with textures Korea. Only textures typical land of Spain, Portugal and Africa. Not Korea. Korea is another type of land, more green, jungle, wildest rivers, most winding roads …
In 4096 POH textures are created from scratch. (Downloadable POH0.7.0).
You can study our work in more detail using Terrain Editor.

SWIP…
All tiles are (not on a meter <g>) 1:1, 1km in the map is 1 km in the sim…

Do you guys ever try the korea tiles from Tomcatz? I think that will be a good solution to have better tiles than the old stock ones!!!

What does that have to do with my work…?

Well! He has done some great work on landscape and city tiles. Thought that he will have possibly some good impulses for your work. That’s all.
-
I like these tiles and the new correccted height and speed impressions they seem to offer.
The old and obviously much too big korean buildings should be resized down to a fraction (1/3 perhaps) or get muuuuch more windows on their textures.
(the old white building block compared to the new orange buildings in the screenshot above)
I bet there are only 20 different old 3D objects (factories, buildings) and it could be done in 4 hours by any 3D artist.Together with these tiles it would make a big difference.
Thanks.

How much contrast…?
I think from great height it should look “dusty”, but from low pass it should look more colored, with more contrast. But both, that isn’t to manage, AFAIK.
Any advice is welcome…!

@APOLLO 11: May I ask for what that ‘Thank you’ is… in post #21?
-
IMHO
city tiles
with more contrast are better
i will try
less BLUE
more RED
less saturation -
If you’ll try, you will succeed for sure, bro.
Just can’t await for the results - do you need only a pair Falcon YEARS to, right?
-
OOOOPSS !!
I mean YOU Earlybite will try , IMHO
-
Three types of city tiles…
More or less still only with “base” tiles, but I think this can be a good beginning. Now step by step…
And some impressions…
