4K Resolution possible?
-
Now do you have an UHD or a real 4K monitor?
Also, a GTX 980 could be a bit weak with BMS 4.33 and 4K
Running a GTX 980 on a 4K monitor with very high detail with 75 to 83 FPS all the time.
-
All the time?
What do you get when you’re displaying video from TGP and Maverick WPN pages?

Sorry just be clear yes the FPS come down to like 35 to 29 when TGP is ON, but it all depends where i am on the MAP. See my live twitch or recorded videos and you will see i am using TGP and still the FPS are very smooth even when i am running Twitch.
My Twitch channel:
-
Good point, smoothness is king, not framerate.
I assume you’re using ShadowPlay to capture video for Twitch? NVIDIA ShadowPlay is still much better than AMD’s offering.

No actually i am using open broadcaster software to stream it to twitch. open broadcaster software gives me lot more options in the software it self. My stream bit rate is 3500.

What 4k Monitor do you have ? and do you have an ini file for it ? There should have been a disc that came with it.
Windows found my Q3277 @ 2560x1440 OK.
You say you have " 4GB GTX 980M video, as well as Alienware Graphics Amplifier with an Nvidia GTX970 video card t run the 4K stuff."
Usually can’t run onboard video AND add on card at the same time.
Also how have you connected the 4k monitor, HDMI or DP or DVI ???I have a Dell UP3214Q Monitor. I will look for an .ini file for it to see if it can be installed.
When hooked to the graphics amplifier, you’re right in that it only runs the GA GPU and disables the laptop GPU and onboard chipset. It’s actually a pretty sweet setup.
My monitor is hooked up via HDMI to the Graphics Amplifier and then another GA specific cable runs into the laptop.

Dell UP3214Q is the monitor. With regards to the video GPU, it runs most everything at maximum resolution, hence why I’d love to run this via 4k…and full screen.

Installed the only driver from Dell, not sure about the .ini file, but it still shows maximum of 2560 x 1440. I think I mistyped in the original thread, but this is the highest I get. I also went into Nvidia Control Panel and told it to use the Nvidia graphics option only when running. Still the same maximum of 2560 x 1440. Any other ideas, Archer perhaps? How did you get 4k resolution? Was it automatically detected or did you have to tweak something?
Thanks again for all the replies. It’s nice seeing a robust support of this sim, even for F4 noobs like myself, though back in it’s initial release, I was pretty decent….

Possible.
I have i7 6700K + GTX 970 Strix. Running the sim with 3840x2160 and very high details (tree and grass densities at max.)
First day of campaign and flying over the flot. Getting 35fps while both of TGP and WPN are running.

Was there anything in particular you had to do to get it to run in 4K? This is the only program I have that will not run or recognize 4K, frustrating to say the least. I think my system very handily, will run maximum resolution and graphics, hence my frustration.
Nice looking screen shot too.

I started another thread, have the same issue….my monitor is connected display port, it’s a genuine 4K unit, phillips 40 inch. All my other flight sims and programs recognize it and run it at the native resolution of 3840 x 2160. Have two GTX 970 in sli.
Would be great if someone can identify the issue, thanks. Been away from Falcon for a year or more and looking forward to the new iteration, but not looking as crap as it does currently…!

Just done some research ( I was curious )
Stry have you seen this https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/2pbidp/you_cannot_use_a_gtx_980_or_970_with_the_graphics/
Alienware Graphics Amplifier is new and proprietary and is bound to have some hiccups.Good luck

Shadow, thanks for the info, though that case is a bit different than mine. My graphics amplifier works splendidly with the GTX970, in all games and sim’s, sans this one. Well, to clarify, it works with BMS/F4, just not in 4k resolution. Also, the laptop 980M also works well with BMS, just capped resolution at 1980 x 1024 when running in laptop mode.

I believe the person in the Reddit message has a break down in the communication between his GA and laptop communicating properly, therefore the setup not being able to properly define which graphics processor to utilize. Mine works as advertised, running in splendid 4k resolution when using the GA. The system, once booted up and connected with your GA, disables the laptop GPU, in favor of the more robust desktop GPU. Your laptop then just becomes a surrogate CPU/OS/RAM host for the desktop GPU. It’s a great setup, when working as designed. The only heartache I experienced was my initial M17 was a 1st generation and was NOT compatible with the GA, contrary to what their tech support told me. So, had to sell that one and purchase an M17 R2 to get the GA to work.
I may eventually just resort to deleting and reinstalling all again and should that fail, run it at a more basic resolution. I just thought the development team might have a work around, hoping they would chime in, but they appear to be on a well deserved vacation….
Admittedly, I am humbled by the offers of advice of so many other enthusiasts, in this thread and the others…thanks again.

please check here post #6 may help, you need hex editor tho

That thread makes sense why it’s not detecting. Pipe, what hex editor do you recommend? I’ll give this a try later today.
-
it got me up 3840x2160 in 4.32. not sure why 4.33 would not enable higher resolution for you.
I used HxD its free to use -
Pipe, no joy on the modded dx9display file bringing 4k resolution. I even tried deleting the file after a re-boot and still stuck with 2560 x 1440. I do notice there are now 2 selections for GTX970 cards, one maxing at 1980 x 1024, the other at 2560 x 1440, so it’s detecting 2 separate monitors, but just not the maximum resolution for the 4k monitor.

Isn’t that because you’re maxxing out the HDMI resolution capability?
Can’t you connect display port ? Then the max resolution will appear.
I had the same issue when switching from display port to HDMI for testing purposesGPU detected multiple times but neither of the options giving the native res of the monitor. Although it’s given when the monitor is connceted with Displayport

My HDMI runs directly into the Graphics Amplifier, not my laptop so I don’t think it’s an apples to apples comparison. I understand what you’re saying, but all graphics run thru the amplifier and from the amp into the monitor.

didn’t see anything earlier on this but. did you try setting monitor refresh to 30 hz as this is all that is possible with hdmi at 4k
