upon clarification from the team, i was overly cautious. I was wrong and apologize
Sorry Korbi
On the other hand, the real pedals are force sensing - hence my comment about interest in a force sensing version.
are you sure about that?
yes, the weather always get’s porked from one update to another, so the fmap for that mission had to be redone and of course you can’t ensure that it’s the very same conditions.
So it might be possible that the weather situation is slighly different than before.
Again, the easier training mission allows you now to boresight on Seoul airbase buildings in Sunny weather. (look for TRN 13 maverick basic)
The ViperDrivers are very proud to offer you our latest briefing tool:
We realized that using real weather data as Fmaps, having a good weather situation in mind before our flight was getting difficult because the UI weather tabs are blanked and the weather picture is not as clear as usual. Fmap may be displayed from other source but no such source allowed to display flight information and weather on the same map.
We therefore created that utility by updating the interactive maps so they can read Fmaps and TE.ini (or pilot.ini) files
This provides a single go to app for briefing and debriefing many aspects of the flights such as navigation data, BMS charts, airport search, weather type, cloud base, visibility, pressure and temperature at any point of the map.
Main features of the new 4.35 interactive maps:
One single address for all implemented terrain
Two terrains currently fully implemented: KTO & EMF but more will certainly follow.
Terrain selectable as primary layer (KTO/EMF)
2 selectable map types for each terrain: IFR / VFR
As before, clicking an airport icon will display airport information and links to the new 4.35 approach charts.
Search feature added. You may search for airports using their name or their ICAO identifiers.
.ini support : Display your flightplan steerpoints, Lines and PPT on the map by dragging any TE.ini into the map browser
=> this will enable the INI layer overlays (Steerpoints, Lines & PPT)
.fmap support: Display the weather fmap type by dragging a .fmap file into the map browser
=> this will enable the FMAP layer overlays (Weather type, pressure, isolines, cloud base, sky conditions, visibility fixed wings (wid barbs), animated winds)
Slider support to display winds aloft with 3k step selection (defaults to surface winds)
Opacity Slider to change layer opacity according to the situation
Dynamic ruler (bottom left corner)
terrain legend (bottom left I button)
Weather data at cursor position
3 zoom level and a much better implementation for moving and zooming the map.

Huge thanks to Memo who did most of the hard work for the code to really bring the world interactive to a new meaning.
Thanks to all who made this possible (see the credits from the about button bottom right of the window
Best browser supported: Firefox and Chrome (Chromium based)
Hope you guys enjoy this tool as much as we enjoyed developing it and using it in our briefings.
Don’t hesitate to comment below or post your questions about how to best use the map.
it is for us who extract the instrument
MFDE satrted with this and YAME does as well. Very useful but not quite for Vrefs IMHO, I personally use it for 360/420/480 kts which gives me a reference for formation flying
Perhaps a bit overstated
Idealy I would prefer to have a CPD integrated in BMS, nothing classified there.
A moving map with integrated flight plan, a fuel management page and what not, it is so incredible awesome.
Indeed, the CPD is in use in some older ANG block30. So it’s VERY overstated.
that said, the block70 is not only about CPD. But that’s what ppl think about basically as it’s probably the most visible cockpit difference. There is probably much more internally.
But after all, our block 50/52 doesn’t have link 16 either. So the “classified” argument is IMHO just a huge wall to hide behind
I think that if we want to promote the CPD, we should stop thinking it’s a unique feature of a block 60 or 70 - We need to concentrate on these block 30 ANG F-16 and find someone able to dedicate a new pit to it. IMHO that’s the biggest challenge as as far as I know a dedicated F-16 cockpit artist is missing, and has been missed for quite a long time in this community. IMHO
The features of the CPD should they be implemented one day are quite easy to find.

I’m sure you know that but the 4.34 interactive map didn’t have the weather goodies, it was just for the charts. That old link above is still working
Instant action has no Weather button
BUT
Dogfight has. after selecting furball, team furball or matchplay, you will find a weather icon on the top left of the small KTO chart.
You can define weather for dogfight through that button in the same way weather is defined for TE and campaigns.
BMS manual page 10-116
Quite unintuitive is the fact that the dogfight weather setting will influence the instant action weather setting as well.
So to set the weather in instant action, you need to set the weather first in the dogfight section.
I think this was not the way it was meant to as weather from one of these module was removed for reason I don’t remember.
Yet your issue is probably that your dogfight is set to inclement in dogfight and you can’t set your weather in instant action to anything else than that => go dogfight section and change the weather then test instant action and see which weather you have
3. What do the various options under Map Model in the Campaign Weather settings do exactly:
a) Auto Save, Fair, Inclement, Start Maps Auto Update, Save-Day…, TE_BMS… ??
b) Profile-S, Profile-L, Save With ??
BMS manual chapter 5 Weather
BMS technical Manual Chapter 7 weather and fmaps
fair enough
Maybe a compromise lies between the two picture above mate. As always
Any way. Point is done and the “picture” delivers the message anyway, after that we’re all entitled to our opinions
I know Kunsan prefers to operate 36, to the point of accepting tailwinds to a certain degree. I forget whether its a 10 knot or 15 knot tailwind component, before they switch to 18?
Would be nice if BMS ATC would operates a bit more tolerances on that aspect. I’ve seen weird situation with active runway changing because of a full cross situation and the wind slightly shifting from one side to the other. It created havoc on airport operations but happens in real ops as well Anyway What we have is already excellent. There is always room for more improvement
It’s easily avoided in BMS, but some instances using real weather created the above …
picture worth than a thousand words,
Here’s what I’m trying to express
I agree the photographic aperture makes the lights brighter - but compare the PAPIS …
Yet there is a huge difference between real and BMS as far as the light brightness are concerned. A bright light makes a better job at runway approach lightning than a dull light.
the also try to see the blue taxi light on the BMS picture and look at the green light at the real picture.
BMS airport are not always lighted, so when they are lighted, that’s for traffic to land. Then maybe the light should be a bit of more help. IMHO
I think shitty refers to the weather (bad weather), not the software.
lol, note to self: do not forget some have an extremely short fuze.
of course it’s weather
