The ViperDrivers are very proud to offer you our latest briefing tool:
We realized that using real weather data as Fmaps, having a good weather situation in mind before our flight was getting difficult because the UI weather tabs are blanked and the weather picture is not as clear as usual. Fmap may be displayed from other source but no such source allowed to display flight information and weather on the same map.
We therefore created that utility by updating the interactive maps so they can read Fmaps and TE.ini (or pilot.ini) files
This provides a single go to app for briefing and debriefing many aspects of the flights such as navigation data, BMS charts, airport search, weather type, cloud base, visibility, pressure and temperature at any point of the map.
Main features of the new 4.35 interactive maps:
-
One single address for all implemented terrain
-
Two terrains currently fully implemented: KTO & EMF but more will certainly follow.
-
Terrain selectable as primary layer (KTO/EMF)
-
2 selectable map types for each terrain: IFR / VFR
-
As before, clicking an airport icon will display airport information and links to the new 4.35 approach charts.
-
Search feature added. You may search for airports using their name or their ICAO identifiers.
-
.ini support : Display your flightplan steerpoints, Lines and PPT on the map by dragging any TE.ini into the map browser
=> this will enable the INI layer overlays (Steerpoints, Lines & PPT) -
.fmap support: Display the weather fmap type by dragging a .fmap file into the map browser
=> this will enable the FMAP layer overlays (Weather type, pressure, isolines, cloud base, sky conditions, visibility fixed wings (wid barbs), animated winds) -
Slider support to display winds aloft with 3k step selection (defaults to surface winds)
-
Opacity Slider to change layer opacity according to the situation
-
Dynamic ruler (bottom left corner)
-
terrain legend (bottom left I button)
-
Weather data at cursor position
-
3 zoom level and a much better implementation for moving and zooming the map.

Huge thanks to Memo who did most of the hard work for the code to really bring the world interactive to a new meaning.
Thanks to all who made this possible (see the credits from the about button bottom right of the window
Best browser supported: Firefox and Chrome (Chromium based)
Hope you guys enjoy this tool as much as we enjoyed developing it and using it in our briefings.
