Massive FPS Loss
-
Hey guys!
I’m just curious; Are you honestly happy and content with a fps at 30 in a single aircraft TE, in a sim built for large scale aircombat? I see your hardware is very good and there is not much to update on the market right now without destroying a fairly normal economy or if well of ,your relationship :-)I’m far from offensive in any way, I’m just keen on getting to know how you think and what your goals are, flying the F16?
Clear skies!
Cheers!

Pretty happy.
Just need an upgrade to prevent dropping from 20-25.

Hope you meant “to 20-25 fps”. My absolute minimum is 30 as below that, Track Ir stop being intuitive as it lag in cameramovement. Interesting otherwise to know you are ok with 30 in TE, even if its obvious we have no choice and I’m certain both of us are as humbly grateful what have been done for free for us, it is still as interesting.
Continue to enjoy!/Jaws

Yep its amazeing what the devs have done for us.
I do truly hope they can some how optimize the game though mostly when the damn tgp is on :(.

i5 2500k 4.4ghz, 8g ram, 280x 3gb, never drop below 30 (avg 45-50+) all eye candy on, TGP, TFR, WPN and FLIR cause hardly any fps drop now compared to 4.32, all in all 4.33 is better all round fps wise for me, and I haven’t upgraded for a long time, except for drivers, oh and I’m now using Windows 10 64 bit, no issues.
@Drexx
Whats the motherboard you are running ? -

well I’m happy cause my hardware is very old for what is providing and still keeping it running in that resolution and with eyecandy on.
Yeap 20-25 med values are a pain cause with wpn and tgp it gets ugly… So I’m really considering a small upgrade to just keep it above 20-25 whatever. Very small budget sure will go for used parts hope they will tune right as I will not have the choice to do so.

I’m having doubts about upgrading my rig ATM, think I’ll hang fire till we get more info about the impact of new hardware on Falcon?, seems like a wise choice to me for time been.

Oh its a ASUS PZ something, it must be 4-5 year old, maybe more!, its nothing flash……come to think of it, it seems to be NEW hardware that’s having problems with Falcon?, maybe that’s the problem with all these FPS complaints?.
Yep - contemplating a system upgrade myself from my early model i7. I haven’t gone to 4.33 as yet and performance on my current 4.32 is good, so I might exercise some patience while this gets sorted out.
Would you mind describing your setup in some more detail please ? I see you run sweetFX… How about any other software that you do or don’t run, or your video setups ( like AA etc ). Sorry to bother you but you seem to have a really solid setup…

Gets a good clean out once a month, and a polish….its a well oiled machine.;-)
Disclaimer: if this setup don’t work for you then tough!, its not my fault…it works for me, thats all I’m saying.
Hope this helps, cheers.

@Drexx
thanks heaps for all of that… One last question - I promise….How have you setup Anti-aliasing and anisotropic filter - in game or within the AMD software ? and at what setting ? ( maybe you just used Arty’s hotlist in which case that’s great )

AA and AF are switched off in BMS, SweetFX is using SMAA which is just as good, Anisotropic filtering is off in BMS because I get the flickering, shimmering effect along coastal areas everyone with AMD cards was going on about, the cure was to set Anisotropic filtering to 8x using GPU settings, so AF is set to 8x through my video card, switch off in BMS.

@Drexx
Thanks so much - your tips will be a massive help to me when I do my testing ( hopefully tomorrow )

My rig is around 30-45 FPS during a TE, with the low side over land and the high side over water or a cloud deck at high altitude over land/water.
When I turn on the TGP, it drops ~10 fps. Drops about 1-2 fps when I’m using the FLIR on the HUD (and not on the MFD). Consider these additive if both are running during night strike.
When it drops to 17-23 FPS during LGB/Mav TGP Operations, the screens are way too jittery.

Agree on both points.

For myself I’ll notice thez fps loss happen in the night with TGP and light in copkict! Without the green light it’s better.In the day time for the moment no problem.
