How to make videos?
-
I must agree I had a difficult time at first as well, setting it all up, and agree on the interface and logic not being on par. But once you understand it it’s a powerfull and as I read on the internet the best recoding tool around. This mainly because of the encoders used.
Below the settings I have depicted in some sceenshots.
One is on a game capture [Falcon BMS] setup, the second a monitor [Tacview] setup. The system I use to run this:
- Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit UK OEM, Incl. ServicePack 1
- Intel Core i5-3570K FC-LGA4, “Ivy Bridge”
- Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit CML8GX3M2A1600C9, Vengeance LP, XMP
- Solid State Drive 2,5 inch SATA - Samsung MZ-7PC128B/WW SATA 600, 830 series, MLC, TRIM
- MSI ATI Radeon R7970 3GB DDR5 2xDVI, 4x Mini-DP
BMS settings. I have both a full res 2560x1440 and a 1920x1080. Using the full res to create Youtube videos is a wast of resources as Youtube does allow a higher res than 1920x1080 but the video bitrate does not go beyond 10Mbps unless on a professional ccount. So I understand that a best compromise is a 1920x1080 res with a max of 10Mbps. See here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en
The settings you can play with are:
Settings/Encoding - Quality Balance [10] and Max Bitrate [2000]
Settings/Advanced - Video CPU preset [very fast] and crf [20]BMS on a game capture setting:
To have the correct application available to select you need to have Falcon running.
Encoding is x264 with resource settings on quality balance and bitrate. One could also downgrade audio setting if recourses are critical.
Set the correct resolution. I have noticed that different settings can not be saved/connected to different profiles. Having a seperate 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 profile did not work for me yet. Must be doing something wrong.
I also would like some help on framerate settings. As BMS does not have a steady framerate what best to do with the framerate setting in OBS. Basic idea is to be able to align it with the framerate used when rendering. I can image having the source FalconBMS, the capture software OBS and the render software Vegas all on the same framerate. Must benefit quality. No?
Setting OBS to 29,970 fps, due to render settings, is not possible by the way.
There is also discussion and a fix on Aero being active or not.If recourses are an issue one could change CPU settings and crf, not CFR and change it to 15.
Tacview on a monitor capture with settings the same as on the game capture:
Hope this helps.
