-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!
-
While it could be my error, it seems that the Power and ACT/PWR buttons on the TWA panel (left side) do not light up in the profile, but they do light up in the game. I compared V1 and V2 of the profile and the profile for 4.32 have these buttons with the images lighted up while the version for 4.33 do not seem to have these images or at least I could not locate them. Everything else seems to work properly except for the various TWA images that lighted up green in the 4.32 version.
I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, I’ll have a check.
Hi Ice, great job, but i have a problem that i’m not able to understand if is due to my laptop touch screen, to your profile or to Helios.
Here is…
I’m using a remote PC with GPT keyboard repeater, everythings it works well if i’m using the mouse but if i try to use the touch it looks like if one touch is read as a multiple touch and it send double or triple key event.
This it happens also if i run the profile without GPT or any other programs but not if i try it into Helios profile editor, the strange things is that with a profile that i did with only MFDs it looks OKUnfortunately, I have no idea how GPT work or how your laptop touch screen works. If using Win7, try going into Control Panel -> Pen and Touch and then checking the Pen Options or Touch and make sure single-tap is single-click and things like that.
Hi Ice
Can you help me.
I have been amending your profile quite considerably for the last few weeks with no problems when suddenly I find that the MFDE extracted dials are not UNDER my helios screens.
So if I open left or right consoles the MFDE instruments show through. They are also not under the protective screen and so can be moved about by touch.
I have tried obvious solutions but am at a loss as to how to proceed.
David
Select the Monitor that displayes the panels and under the Properties tab, make sure the Always On Top box is ticked. Also, under Layers, double-check that you have a bottom layer called Back Sheet Transparency. This layer is locked by default and is simply a see-through layer that “protects” the MFDE stuff from being activated by your touch.

Thanks Ice
Those were the obvious things I tried.
Solved problem though. It was caused by me amending front console screen,
When I saved using “paint” I lost all the transparent holes through which you see extracted gauges etc.
I had then somehow switched off always on top.
I don’t suppose you can tell me how to save in “paint” and maintain those transparent holes ??Thanks again David
-
What are you saving in paint? If you save them as .png files, they should be good.
-
Hi Ice
I am saving front console screen after adding text to it.I don’t think paint can deal with transparencies but I have found that Paintshop Pro can, after googling it.
Do I remsmber seeing something about creating transparent sections in one of your tutorials?
I will have a search.
Thanks David
-
Yep… I use Photoshop. Paint is just too… basic. Damn, I’ve not used Paintshop Pro in FOREVER!
-
Do you use Photoshop to create templates with transparent hatches as in the front console
or do you make them within Helios -

PowerPoint also does transparencies when saving graphics as an image. It’s what I use.

Everything is made in Photoshop and just “assembled” together in Helios.

Ice,
I posted a thread asking if anyone had done Helios for the F-18. If not… My weak understanding of Helios tells me I could maybe use your profile and change the images around or would I need to re-make an all new key file? The common key commands are the same for each type of aircraft aren’t they?
Thanks,
Sage
PS: Thanks for your awesome F-16 profile in the first place. Great work. -
Whew. That’s what insomnia will get you. Sorry about my last couple of posts, they’re kinda ramble-y.
See if you guys can help me troubleshoot.
From here: http://ihpff4bms.blogspot.co.uk/ I downloaded the following: -Ice’s BMS 4.33 ver1.2, Custom Images, BMS - FPM by -Ice.key, Ice’s BMS WH Profile ver6
I put the profile where it needs to go and the images. I selected Ice’s key file in the game and rant his TARGET script prior to game launch. Also, prior to game launch I run Helios.
Helios, works. When I touch a switch it moves, but it is in no way registered in the game other than the mouse moving. I have set the use button 4 to 1 and the exclusive mouse thing to 0 in the cfg. Button 4 appears to do nothing still and the mouse moves all over the place in the cockpit along with no Helios touches being registered….
Have I missed a step, or downloaded the wrong version of something? What else do you need to know from me to help troubleshoot? Thanks much guys.

You probably need to select the keyfile in Helios and save it

Darn it left that off the list. I have also selected it in helios…. still no joy. Thanks toto
EDIT 20 Jan: Well. I completely uninstalled Helios and scrubbed it with Revo. Reinstalled and re-put everything back in and poof it worked! Up and running. Thanks again for the hard work Ice.

You’re welcome! Glad you’re enjoying it. As for the F-18 pit, I’d love to make one but no time at the moment. Not even a case of beer will help, unfortunately.
You can indeed just change the images for the panels and keep using my switches and .key file and everything. You might need to add switches that are exclusive to the F-18… re-map a few things, etc. So not a 100% straight-up swap, but no need to start from scratch.

I don’t see any images for right eyebrow lights.
Does this mean they are not implemented in your profile??If not I will have a go at putting them in my version of your profile.
Regards David

Nope, no eyebrow lights as you don’t really interact with them. Also, I think it’s easier to see the in-game lights compared to the one on the Helios as you’d need to “look down.” But feel free to add them if you wish.

Hi Ice
Many thanks for your hard work on your latest profile, I am in the process of constructing a basic pit with 2 additional touchscreens left and right and would like to use your profile to accomplish this, is there a way to edit your profile so that the panels can be extracted to seperate monitors ? any help would be much appreciated.Reagards

You are free to copy-paste the left and right profiles to fit onto your side monitors. They obviously won’t be identical to the real aircraft’s layout but if you’re adventurous, you can cut up the panels as well to “fit.” I don’t think that’ll be a good way to use up your monitor’s real estate though. IIRC, one of the other posters here is doing the same thing (side panels on side monitors), but can’t remember who as of now.

This looks great.
Excuse my ignorence but the profiles are HTML files. How do I save these as a proper Helios Profile ?

Can be useful if you want to fly in view “1” or in empty cockpit shell.
I have added them to my profile, copied from Rogues BMSv2.01 on the helios downloads section,
Just needed to alter the angle by 3 degrees to fit the slightly different slope in your profile. While in Rouges profile I was impressed by his landing gear lever which is a much more accurate copy of the in game one,
warning lights fully functional ,so I copied and installed that too. Thank you Rogue.
Worth a look Ice???Regards David

i’d be interested in seeing the lights as well, as a lot of the time i fly out of the virtual cockpit.
weepop can you send me what you’ve done/
