Phisical server setup

turn off all shaders, all anti-aliasing, reduce resolution, trees and grass auto-gen,…. you don´t need any enhanced graphical settings in the server.

Thank you Tbuc.
And what about the config? Is there any particular option to check/uncheck to increase performances?
I also have read somewhere that in the .cfg file you can prevent the server to entering in 3d world. Do you know how to do so and if this option is useful for my purpose? -
Server HAS to be in 3D.
When the server enters the game you can switch to satelite view, gives you an extra fps boost.

In case you have fps issues with that hardware setup I suggest you to have a look at sthalik’s thread: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24564 (64bit OS is required though)
Also, make the server flight operate from an inactive small airfield, so that it does not block other flights. And don’t forget to change the time in the theater’s ATC.ini files so the server does not get kicked out of 3D.

Hi BVT! I don’t have a virtual server. I’ve a normal Pc at home that i want to use as a server.

Same thing, you’ll have a huge fps increase, if necessary

Folks,
I’m thinking about standing up a host computer, or “server”. I want to have it in COMMS logon mode 24x7, and allow my close friends log in, host their own game from the files on their system, and play without my having to man my host “server”, i.e., having to worry about watching or having to input into the “server” before/when they use it.
In this scenario, they would be supplying the mission files from their end.
The only thing I believe is it only supports one theater at a time. Is this true?
Is this doable with BMS?

Have you try to set server at 16 bit dispaly?
BMS-Manual page 236set g_bForce16bitDisplay
This option when enabled (1) would force the display device to use 16 bits. This is pretty irrelevant for genuine users but may prove useful when trying to run BMS on a server that may have restricted GPU capabilities. Available options: 0/1. Default is 0.

And don’t forget to change the time in the theater’s ATC.ini files so the server does not get kicked out of 3D.
Thank you! Can you explain me how to do that?

Look for the ATC.ini in the campaign folders, there you can configure the PlayerBumpTime to 99999999 or similar.

Thank you Reaper!
