MFD export flickers since installed a second GPU in my system (non SLI)
-
Until yesterday i used a single NV GTX 670 GPU with two screens (main screen for 3D/world and addon screen for BMS-exported MFDs and a couple of gauges via Lightnings MDFE).
Everything worked flawlessly until i installed a second GPU. This GPU is an older GT 640 GPU (low power, passive cooling) and was indented exclusively to output the MFDs on two additional 10" display. But unfortunately it is not working as intended. While the output to these new screens in general works, the BMS-exported MFDs now flicker as hell - not so the gauges.
What confuses me the most is, it’s not only the new screens that have the problem. the addon screen which is connected to my main GPU and had no problems ever since now has the same problem with the flickering MFDs.
i read another thread in the forum where a similar problem occured with the MFDs but it was related to SLI if i understand it correctly. But my GPUs are not working in SLI mode so there must be another reason for this…

Hi,
I’m new to BMS but have 8" displays behind my cougar MFDs since a while already. They run over my integrated graphics of my CPU. They run perfectly well in DCS but I’m experiencing flickering as well in BMS 4.33 using the integrated export program to export the MFDs. I also have no idea how to solve it and if sombody has a clue what to do it’d be great.
Sorry for using this thread for my own purposes. But I believe I have a very similar problem than the OP.
Thanks,

In the meantime I solved my problem by using MFD Extract instead of the build-in solution from the BMS launcher. Now everything works without any flickering. The only issues were created by my Kaspersky. But an exclusion helped to solve this as well. Maybe this helps to sort out the problem as well.

I found flickering was caused by the resolution setting of my MFD Monitors. I set them at 800x600 16 Bit and the the flickering stops. They also look just as good since the monitors are so small (2 x 8" 4:3 VGA Monitors). You may also want to consider using two identical cards rather than mixing new and old cards. Some don’t have issues with this, but some do. Also, the more you do externally, you may want to considering networking a second PC. You can use the older card in that one without issues. Using the CPU, Memory and GPU from a second PC will help with losing performance and FPS on the main PC. I run two 8" and one 4" for my MFD’s and RWR from a networked PC. I run a 50" for my main screen and a 10.4" for my Center Pedestal off the main PC. My frame rates run solid at 60 FPS in the air. I have all graphics on and/or at the highest settings. I run a GTX 980 on my main PC and two 560TI’s on my networked PC. I also run a full operational Pit which is why I probably have to do it this way. But thought I would share for your future Pit building, now that I have motivated you

XoxenYes MFD Extractor is much more forgiving. I do not use the built in extractor for anything.
