BMS Key File Editor, and Windows 10
-
This is a re post of what I put up at SimHQ.
Just about had a meltdown when my computer would restart, let me log in, but I couldn’t do anything afterwards. The start menu functioned, but no programs would open. I couldn’t even restart. I had to keep doing a hard reset.
Finally, I figured out that the only thing that had changed was that I had saved the BMS Key File Editor to my desktop. I tried to delete it, but I received an error message that it was open in Windows Defender. The light bulb went on then, so I restarted in safe mode, and moved the file back to the BMS base directory.
Now everything is working fine. Just thought I would post this, so if anyone has an issue with this file, or any other Excel file, this might help.
Edit: Actually, nevermind. When I tried to go back and use the file again, windows locked up. I even deleted it, and used a different copy, but windows defender keeps attempting to scan it, and windows locks up. Now I can’t do any further editing of keystrokes, or joystick settings with this file.

Can you not add the excel file to Exclusions in Defender?

I’ll give that a shot. Didn’t know about that feature, as I’ve never had to use it before. Thx.

Probably related to the file macros. Defender can be overly protective regarding its scanning and handling of MS Office macros.

That must have been what it was, thanks again guys. Things seem to be working fine now that I added an exception.
