Helios profile issues
-
Thanks to both you and Lumper. I was coming to the same conclusion!
-
Well uninstalled everything including BMS. Used CCleaner. Reinstalled BMS and Helios. Still no Falcon in interface list. Unistalled all re CCleaner and then just installed Helios. No Joy. Will tinker around a bit but otherwise may have to wait til I upgrade PC and go to Win10.
-
Might be time for a HDD wipe? I âcleanâ my PC every 18-24 months which means backing up important stuff and starting with a fresh Win7 install. I just did this last December but that was to coincide with my hardware upgrade
I wonât be going to Win10 until it matures a bit more.
-
Yeah, but I hate doing that! All those programmes to reinstall! I should be getting a bigger SSD C drive soon so may do it then.
-
I just view it as sort of âspring cleaning.â
Good luck!

Well more through accident than design (long story) I got your profile to show up on the editor. However while I get _Iceâs profile to run on the right monitor (2), Weepoppâs opens on 1. How do I change it to open on 2 or 3 or any other?
-
âReset Monitorsâ should help.
-
I did âreset monitorsâ and the monitors are in correct position. The monitors are 3-1-2 l to r. -Ices BMS 4.33 ver.1.2 shows up on 2 where I want it but Ice-Weepop and Weepop-Ice show up on 1 not 2 where I want them.
-
Yes, use âReset Monitorsâ to specify where you want a display to show up. You can âswap aroundâ monitors using that command.
-
The attached jpg shows the problem. Whether I change 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 I just get something on both 1 and 2. The only commands I can see are changing the monitor order, i.e. new monitor 1 to 2 or whatever. This seesm the case whether I reset b4 or after loading a profile. Why would one profile o-pen in 2 and the other 2 in 1??
(BTW, does changing ,monitors here actually change them outside Helios or only in the programme? In other words am I changing profile location or monitor location?)
-
Okay, Iâm not sure I understand you correctly here.
First, the position of the monitor has a lot to do with how the profile is created. Assuming 2 monitors, 1-2, maybe the profile creator had the touchscreen on the left (monitor 1) and you have your touchscreen on the right (monitor 2). You load up his profile and itâll have 1(ts)-2(display). You âreset monitorsâ so that a) the profile will be resized to your resolution and b) you can âswitchâ the monitors so that his 1(ts) will go to your 2 and his 2(display) will go to your 1, and you end up with 1(display)-2(ts). Save and run the profile and enjoy!
Also note that âreset monitorsâ will alter the profile to your resolution. The original creator might have had 1(1920x1200)-2(1920x1080) whereas your setup is 1(5896x1080)-2(1920x1080). âReset Monitorsâ will fix this as well.
Maybe that clears it up a bit?

In your attached picture, how do you have your setup displayed?
Old layout: 3(gray)-1(helios)-2(blank)
Assuming you have 3 as unused, 1 as your primary display, and 2 as your touchscreen, set it so that itâll show:
Monitor 1 ââ New Monitor: Monitor 2
Monitor 2 ----- New Monitor: Monitor 1
Monitor 3 ----- New Monitor: Monitor 3This means itâll transfer 1(helios) to your Monitor 2, transfer 2(blank) to your Monitor 1, and keep 3(gray) as it is.
-
This is what I get after I do as you suggest
Quote:
Old layout: 3(gray)-1(helios)-2(blank)Assuming you have 3 as unused, 1 as your primary display, and 2 as your touchscreen, set it so that itâll show:
Monitor 1 ââ New Monitor: Monitor 2
Monitor 2 ----- New Monitor: Monitor 1
Monitor 3 ----- New Monitor: Monitor 3This means itâll transfer 1(helios) to your Monitor 2, transfer 2(blank) to your Monitor 1, and keep 3(gray) as it is.
ENDAll my monitors are 1920 x 1080
As I hope you can see, part transfers to new 2 (old 1) and part stays in new 1 (old 2)
Is there a way to change in profile file?
-
Ah, I think it simply moved everything from 1 to 2, but the background image used has stayed on 1.
Bring up your Properties window and your Layers window⌠on your Layers window, unlock âPanel FRONT CONSOLEâ and select it. On your Properties window, you will see BACKGROUND and then Image and a box that should say â-Iceâs Falcon BMS ver.2\Panels\Front Console.pngâ
This is what you want to delete from your Monitor 1 and make sure you have it on Monitor 2. From the looks of your screenshot, that .png has been âleft behindâ on Monitor 1.
-
Well I didnât see any setting âLayers window, unlock âPanel FRONT CONSOLEâ and select itâ but by just fiddling around I seem to have done it! Not sure I can repeat it but never mind! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
One issue though. It seems to âkillâ monitor 3 though. Mouse pointer moves there but just white creen and noting else (like MFD extractor) shows up.
-
Thatâs because you need to remove the BACKGROUND on Monitor 3⌠to do this, refer to my last post.
Or refer to around the 3:20 mark on my video
-
Thanks! Did it and getting hang of it! I assume in theory it would be possible to have say left monitor with left console stuff, right monitor with right console and say the centre sections with a laptop (attached via spacedesk or similar) under the centre monitor which would be showing falconBMS?
-
One of the reasons I made those videos is to help ME remember how to do stuff! After a while, I tend to forget how to do the bindings and stuff for the controls so those videos are technically my ânotes.â
As for Helios, I remember a guy who said he flew with 5 touchscreens. 1 left console, 1 aux left console, 1 center console, 1 aux right console, and 1 right console. IIRC, all of these were via a networked PC so his main rig didnât get such a big âhit.â I think I saw a pic of his setup and saw his left and right consoles and I thought to myself âsuch a waste of a touchscreenâ since you only really work with the left/right consoles during ramp start and very, very rarely during flight. A center console and a aux left console setup would be really sweet though! I wonderâŚ.
-
You have a point about the consoles mainly for ramp start; anything needed on flight only need to be in Helios. Aux left console does sound interesting!
-
Yeah, that way I could enlarge the MISC panel and the CMDS panel, relocate the LG panel, put an actual HMCS panelâŚ. the left Aux console is quite useful especially in emergencies!! Donât ask me how I knowâŚ
