-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated!
-
Hi Ice,
I’ve sorted my screen issues. Thanks for asking.
I want to express my thanks for your work but most importantly the way that you carry yourself helping everyone who ask for help with patience and good advice. By far this profile is at the top of all Helios profiles.
On another note, am I wrong to need to create a different profile base on yours of course, but for a started mission and one for ramp start?

Very good to know you’re all set and thanks for the kind words! We are/were all n00bs at one point or another or with regards to one topic or another so this is my way of paying to forward to such a great hobby and community.
You are free to create different versions of my profile; weepop has created his own custom one based on his needs and I’m sure others have modified my profile for their use as well. You may need THREE profiles though… one for a cold-start, another for a ramp start, and another for in-the-air missions… all each would need really is just a change in the default start states of select switches.

Why is the ramp start different from the cold start?
Also, do you use a combination of BMS’s screen extractin utility and MFDE Utility? -
Sorry, I meant to say “taxi” start.
I did use BMS’s CDE and MFDE but tests on my new GPU showed better performance using just MFDE so that’s what I’m using now.

Ok Cool!
Thanks Ice -
Hi ice, i just downloaded and installed Helios and your profile. Unfortunately when i press a buton on screen, nothing happens. It looks like Helios and F4 bms are not connected. When i start helios i can add a new interface and pick falcon. However, when i first load your profile, after that i cant add falcon as an interface. What am i doing wrong? Which steps should i takenin which order? Do i have to add falcon as an interface after i opened your profile or is this not necessary? Or should i just open your profile?
Thanks, JeDa -

you should have already selected BMS 4.32 (4.33 is not yet activated)
open profile in Helios editor and select “Falcon” tab on the top row of the middle screen from the pull down menu select BMS 4.32 then re save profile.
Make sure you are funning “Ice” key profile in BMS
Hope this helps

This is correct using MFD from within BMS will half your frame rate !!! use MFDE.
Ironman.
Such wasn’t the case with my ATI card…

Thanks it works! Only problem i have is that the mfd’s dont work. I use mfd extractor to extract everything and they all work, just the mfd dont. They show up but they are static and dont show any info. They just stay blank. What am i doing wrong?

That seems to be a common problem which I have from time to time. However, I’ve not fiddled with it for a long time to offer a solution. Suffice to say that the issue has everything to do with MFDE and nothing to do with my profile. One option is to use the built-in CDE but you might get a framerate hit. The amount of frames lost seems to be GPU-dependent. Otherwise, check out this thread for some troubleshooting ideas.

Thanks Ice. I got them working!

Still good for U1??

I’m sorry but I can’t personally confirm. I’m in the process of building a new flight sim cockpit

I guess I could check myself!:o

Greetings Ice. Great work. Thanks for sharing. Regards. Jay.

You’re welcome! A lot of people have learned Helios by reverse-engineering my profile, or taking my profile then customizing it for their own needs. I, myself, have learned this way as well!
If you need any more help, always feel free to ask!

Thanks for the Tip Ice. MFDE Programme is really user friendly. Looks great too.
Only getting the “Trogan” issue but I’ve read in another thread that it nothing to worry about.
I would love to have a touch control ICP, maybe when I get myself a Touchscreen Monitor. They are quite expensive here in Gib as everything’s imported.
I guess I’ll need to learn the Helios tool for the ICP.
Anyway, I’m finding your tutorials real handy.
Thanks once again Ice. -
Ah, I thought you already had a touchscreen monitor due to your interest in Helios. Do you have a second computer? I think with GPT and Helios, you could put Helios and your MFDE instruments on a second computer screen and use the mouse to “press” buttons on it… not as handy as a touchscreen but at least you’ll get to use Helios instead of just looking at it
However, this is my next project so I myself have yet to explore this option. If you go to the GPT thread though, people have been doing this exact thing so at least we know it’s possible.
