Reduced fps in Bms 4.33.1
-
ALT-C, then F (for me)
-
Or some .key Ctrl-Z then R
-
I see ctrl-z : r sim fps on my control list but it just doesn’t do anything. Nothing gets displayed on my screen when I hit ctrl z and when I press r it just brings up flight comms.
Also, while in Controllers, if I press Ctrl-Z it says it is not assigned.
-
Does the ALT-C: F work? By command list are you saying the one in the controllers menu in the UI? It would be once you get in the plane you press ctrl+Z then release and hit the R
-
No luck with alt-c : f .
Yeah I’m talking about the controllers menu. Its really weird that it doesn’t work for me. Didn’t work in 4.33 either.

Check for this line in your .key file:
OTWToggleFrameRate -1 0 0x21 0 0x2E 4 1 "SIM: Display Frame Rate - Toggle" ```_(from the BMS - Full.key and DUNC_DX.key files)_ You can see a full list of other "key combo" commands in the retro keyboard layout guide, located in the docs folder: ..\Docs\Key Files & Input\Keyboard Layout Files
-
Alright, I don’t have that exact line, it is written as:
OTWToggleFrameRate -1 0 0X13 0 0X2C 2 1 “Sim-Frame Rate”
-
Yeah just remember alt+c - r is “generate random failure” i keep falling on that one (thanks evil, evil bms devs )
alt+c + f is frames per second
-
Have just installed BMS on a loan PC from work
Its an Alienware 6700k, GTX970, and 16gb of 2133 DDR4 ram… @ 1080pAveraging around 100fps in basic instant action mode, with all scenery & details cranked up to full. The scenery really does look great…
Will fire up one of these more demanding scenarios for a better test -

OTWToggleFrameRate -1 0 0X13 0 0X2C 2 1 is the Ctrl+Z then R callback.
-
Yeah, pressing ctrl+z then r doesn’t do anything but open the flight comms window. Its like ctrl+z just isn’t being recognized. Is just ctrl+z (not including the r input after) supposed to be bound to something?
Maybe its because I am using eyefinity and crossfire. I’m also using Iron’s x52 key file.
-
What kind of keyboard are you using and are you using the left or right Crtl? Have you tried programing the Ctrl+Z part to the X52 and just hitting R afterwards?
Shouldn’t be anything to do with the video card setup although when we get you displaying frame rate I wonder if you’ll notice a increase in performance with Crossfire on with multi-monitors. Generally SLI/Crossfire isn’t suppose to help DX9 applications but apparently it can with SLI and multi-monitors with AFR2 on. Just wondering since I have a R9 290 with a 4360x1600 PLP setup.

Snake122 suggestion is the way to go.
It could the way Alt:c f I being pressed.
This is the way I do it. You press Alt- c at first, release and quickly press the f key.
Bring up framerate figure at the top left corner of the screen.
Also check the key file setup your using,
Load bms Full key and see. -
I was having bad frame rate drops in Update 1.
To fix it I edited this line in “falcon BMS.cfg”, the default is 0 (max), which seemed to be the cause. By editing this to 2 my frame rates are better than in the original 4.33.set g_nAnisotropicValue 2 // The max anisotropic filter value to use if anisotropic filtering is ON in the setup UI. Valid values: 0 = max available (default), 2, 4, 8, 16
Hopefully this will work for you also.
Where is this “falcon BMS.cfg” file located? also what effect does having V Sync have on graphics performance? thanks.

Strange - I have r9 280x, on intel 2500K…On 4.33 i had no problem with fps…now i have around 10 fps on instanta aa mission…Settings are the same as ain 4.33…Cant even play…
Ok i found that reason is external display extraction…when i disable it and use MFD exrtraction it works fine and FPS are OK… -

Depending on where your Falcon 4.33 U1 is installed then typically you will find it in following folder C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\User\Config
To edit it I would recommend Notepad ++ but be aware of what effect any changes you make will have on the behaviour of BMS. Several items in Falcon.bms.cfg will also result from modifications in the ‘Configuration’ launching screen when you make changes there.
Vsync synchronises the game graphics ‘frames’ with the monitor refresh but this can reduce your overall frames per second performance. Switching the Vsync off in BMS will often improve fps but can cause ‘tearing’ of the displayed graphics image

I have much better fps with this latest update, solid 60fps even during night missions. Thank you BMS team!
