TrackIR Software Update
-
I tried to download 5.4.0 and it showed up as a corrupt or invalid program. It also linked the download to an outside website called s3.amazonaws.com instead of downloading directly from NaturalPoint like the previous software does. I put an email in to NaturalPoint and hopefully it will be resolved soon. I would have ran it anyway but windows would not let me unless I bypassed the signature.
Update: NaturalPoint responded and said they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. The file is safe according to them.

5.4.1 is up, installed fine, windows 10
-
well it tells you to do so… so according to general stats and mass behavior you MUST update.
Basic rule. If it works we don’t touch it.
But sometimes it works better? And indeed, it does work better: no more GPU throttling, and, for me, a biggie: full screen on 4K actually works!
-
Two reasons, which may or may not apply to you, and even if it applies, may or may not be important to you ….
(1) Speed throttling with some graphics cards when the TIR software was running is fixed
(2) Previously, when you made the TIR window large than a particular dimensions the graph portion on the left was truncated. Don’t know the exact dimensions off the top of my head, but I know I could not maximize or even get to 2/3 of the screen on my 4K monitor. VERY annoying. That’s been fixed now! -
everything is fine i forgot to save my profile so i need to do that again i like the vertical to be much quicker than the horizontal but i don’t use 6DOF i prefer zoom to be on the joystick
-
just installed 5.4.1, works fine, except for one thing.
i tried using a custom profile, copied it into the profile folder, but it doesn’t show up in the profile list.
i tried restarting, rebooting…no joy. -
Which profile folder?
[\Users<sambucca>\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles</sambucca>](\Users<sambucca>\AppData\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\Profiles)
or
[\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\Profiles](\Program Files (x86)\NaturalPoint\TrackIR5\Profiles)
The location the software uses changed a couple of versions ago, so whichever folder you didn’t save the profile in is the one you should have.

Hi Darkman. i have yassys profile in the x86 option. when i go for the other one i get as far as roaming then cant find naturalpoint next. just intel or windows.

You should not put downloaded profiles into the main install directory of the Natural Point software, eventhough it has a Profiles folder.
The program looks in the \Users<name>\Appdata\Roaming\NaturalPoint\TrackIR 5\profiles folder.
So all downloaded profiles should be put here. Then they’ll show up.Thanks for giving my profile a try! I’d love to hear your feedback.</name>

no appdata folder shows up under my user name….but when i try to create an appdata folder, it says it is already there???..any help would be appreciated?
-
What Operating System are you using? The AppData folder may be hidden.
From the BMS Manual (in your \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals folder) page 68:
How to show file extensions in Windows 7 (and Vista)
1. Open Windows Explorer and click the ‘Organize’ button near the top left corner. Choose ‘Folder and search options’ from the menu.
2. Click the ‘View’ tab in the window that opens, then scroll down and untick the box next to ‘Hide file extensions for known file types’.How to show file extensions in Windows 8
1. Open a File Explorer window and click the ‘View’ tab.
2. Make sure the box next to ‘File name extensions’ is ticked. -
Hey Darkman I can find the folder (App Data) and all the way to profiles folder, what I’m having problems with is getting the folder to show up in IR profiles. I tried to unzip folder in (Track IR 5\profile folder) final folder no joy in IR 5 profiles. I’ve tried putting the unzipped (two files on Desktop, readme and configuration folder) and moved the configuration folder over to proper folder, they still don’t show up. What am I doing wrong?
-
Like Darkman said; the AppData folder is hidden, because it is part of the system structure of Windows.
You will need to show hidden files and folders from the options menu of windows file browser.
Additionally you will need Administrator rights to copy anything in there as well. -
Thanks for the help Darkman and Yassy….much appreciated

Thanks for giving my profile a try! I’d love to hear your feedback.
For the record…I’ve been using your profile for well over a year… Love it! Thanks for sharing
-
That is always nice to hear! I hope you’ll find it useful yet for many more years.

Here as follows my little experience, because I have TIR Pro since a three months.
I’ve updated the software to the 5.4.2.27545 (hope I quoted it well), no issues to report about, since now at least.
And I’m currently using that fabulous Yassy’s profile, well worth to install - it works smoothly and precisely with the Pro sensor and with the cap either.
So, thanks a lot, bud, for having sharing it. You don’t know how many setting troubles (and time to find out the proper solution, most of all) you saved to an unknown unexperienced fellow pilot, just like I am.With best regards,

More digging around on the forum. Found the bit about showing hidden files. Yassy profile now showing up in track ir 5. Many thanks guys.

Updates won’t interfere with Falcon derivatives since they don’t use the encrypted interface.
