Got it to work

Never mind…

you need to install falcon4 on your system (it doesn’t need to be in a running condition, just installed) for BMS 4.33.1+ to install and run correctly.

Hi
How you did it?
I do have an original F4 - even the full version with the big hard manual folders
What I did not get around is to mess with the BMS Validity check. I cannot install Legacy F4 on my Win10x64 Computer as the installation routine simply did not work.
I have some legacy exe file from a backup somewhare but it does not do the trick - maybe some registry stuff needs to be tweaked as well - any ideas?
I am still wondering why BMS is to picky on installations - I thoughtI read somewhere that Falcon 4 went on open source now so what is the point for the check?
Kind regards Gunhawk -

Hi LS,
thanks for the clarification. Is there a way to successfully install Falcon 4 legacy on a Windows 10 X64 machine? I have even tried the compatibility mode Windows 95 without success.
Thats we I couldn’t even bother with BMS 4.33 for now - hope there will be a trick

No Windows 10 X64 here, but I thought I read some have installed F4
after booting into safe mode.Else, search the forum, … I’m sure the answer is there.

I installed legacy Falcon 4.0 from original 1998 disk on Win 10-64 without issue, as have many others. One must therefore conclude that:
1. Your install disk is defective
2. Your unique hardware / software system is preventing installation, perhaps due to anti-virus or other security protection program. As a last resort, ensure your Falcon 4.0 disk is good, then perform a clean Win 10 install.
-
EDIT: solved - installed in safe mode
Same problem here:
- windows 10 us 64 bit clean install
- original Falcon4 disk (in good condition all files OK)
- setup just wont install anything just displays runs as admin confirmation window and then exits
-
I am sure my disk is ok. Hope BMS will have a look into how they can assure otherwise that I have to original CD. Many others do similar - have to present disk and than install continous.
UPDATE:
I now have successfully installed that bit after temporarily turning off Symantic Virus Scan. I am really curious why this was obviously stopping the installer without giving a message either from the install process nor a warning from the Virus detection system.
All good now

I ran into similar issue on my 10 x64. I didn’t try safe mode though. I just opted to spend $6 for the Steam copy of Falcon4 and installed it. I figured I should always have access to that version.

As the rules linked by DJ states :
You agree to make every effort to avoid jeopardizing the ability of the BMS team to deliver future updates to Falcon BMS.
And posting links to unauthorized material based on F4, Tommo’s intellectual property, is jeopardizing that. Cf Boxer’s explanation on that.
I have no idea of the intent you had, Gunhawk, but you leave me no choice : you are off for a week.
