[Release] Grb2fmap - GRIB to BMS Converter

FMAP file format is easy to reverse if you open a .fmap file with an hex editor. Instead of dumping my struct myself, I will better wait somebody from the dev-team to do it in a more appropriate manner

Could be a long wait… but thanks for the tip.

Hey Ahmed,
Converting the .grb fails for me.
As far as I can tell I followed all of the instructions.
I downloaded zyGrib version 7.0.0
Converter v0.5d
Here is the error I’m receiving:EDIT: Fixed by re-downloading the converter

Anyone else encountering Zygrip tool non operational?
-
Happened to me also 3 days ago. Downloaded files simply didn’t come out with the necessary information to be processed by Grb2fmap.
I assumed it would be some kind of server fault and it supposedly was, since it’s functional again since yesterday. At least for me, that is ;).
-
oh, maybe that was my problem.
-
Brilliant idea and very useful tool Ahmed!
Is the source code available anywhere by any chance (github or similar…)? I see you released it under Apache License.
Thanks again for your work!
-
-
yes….same problem!!
-
I noticed something different with the way zygrib is downloading weather data. It’s not pulling temp, precipitation, and other info. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Ahmed hasn’t signed in a while, he must be busy…
-
Hi,
Is that problem still persisting? I haven’t had time for BMS in a long while but I will try to take a look in a few weeks.
-
Suddenly after having that problem I’m departed for travel. At soon I’ll be back I shall try and let you know. Many thanks for your intervention.

Well, just clean and re-installed zyGrib and grb2fmap. Seems running well, smooth like silk. Evidently was a zyGrib problem.
Thanks -
Hi all,
This project has been sort of abandoned in unfinished state for a couple of months due to the lack of a free grid weather data provider, that prevented me from implementing some wanted features.
I have now found a source for this data, so I plan on slowly working towards a feature-complete final version. So far, the expected features are:
- Automatic downloading of weather data (no need to use zyGrib anymore)
- Simpler user interface (just select the theater of operations and the program will take care of the rest)
- I will consider adding the option of outputting a weather forecast briefing
If anybody have any other requests I will be happy to consider them.
I don’t have much time now to dedicate to this project, but the intention is there. So, as usual in this community, expect news in 3-4 Falcon weeks

Quick sneakpeek of the new program in late development state after a few days of rain down around here…
I’m calling all theater devs and users around here to post or pm coordinates for all available BMS 4.33 theaters so as to be included in the upcoming release, as I just have a few installed.
A theater map (preferably DEM2Terrain) image would be a plus!

Great……thanks for your software development

The UI looks very nice, Ahmed!
So much looking forward to use your work. Thank you!
