Theater developmental notes - The Tile's

…
@Dema I work on Aegean and for Aegean there is no Campaign and couldn’t be one as the links are fubared…Is there going to be any fix on it?
the part with links being fubar shouldn’t be true, not at all. while the campaigns were inop, the links, the tiles and associated objcetives were all meticulously checked and done in the OF version by Phoenix himself…. if these are really fubar now, then it must be something in between got these whacked. i suggest you compare yours vs the v4x release for OF4.3 for the links etc!

Yes, Sorry u are right… I rephrase that, The Roads network has major problems.
Well the Aegean I have is based on the one converted and listed in this forum in the theaters Area. I don’t know if it is the one based on OF.
If u open it with Terrain Editor go to the objectives window and ask to test the links u will get some error, in Ankara IIRC.
Now if u open it with Tacedit is easier to look at the links… TE is a pain to unzoom and see the whole map with links, but u can easily see that the roads path network will not work cause the paths are not connected from one tile to the other…
Those sleepless nights headbanging to figure out Falcon ghosts and skeletons drive u crazy… u forget what u knew and u end up totally messed up…

Just reading your explanation of what goes on to make all this work in BMS, is very astonishing! I just want to say thank you for all that goes into making up this game by all that is involed you all are very good at what you do… Thank you

As I understand things, I can have 16 tiles per set, but within that set, do I have to maintain the “old” 256 colour palette which is consistent across all 16 tiles, or can I now use 16M colours per individual tile?

Tiles test for Ukraine (UTO). The area is covered with squares of 48 by 48 km (2304 tiles representing the real terrain - Ukraine, Poltava region). For cities, the coast, the mountains and the Dnieper River 1792 free tiles left.
Ukraine - Theater of Operations (UTO)
P.S. Tested with Jan Has F-16CM 52 model.

And Airports and special areas.

Good Lord Tavor. I just saw this today as I was googling JanHas models. This stuff is mind blowing. Do you plan to make a fully fledged theater?

Hi, Redeye82! Yes I plan to make at least operational theater without campaign. Now I should find out how to make coastline with limited amount of tiles. I have 1770 tiles left. For a good coastline illusion I need at least 900-1000 tiles. And I need tiles for big Dniper river, big cities, mountain areas, airbases and for some additional areas. Anyway, now I exactly know that with 8000 or 10 000 tiles it is possible to create perfect illusion of a real landscape to fly over 1024x1024 km theater. I hope, one day BMS developers will be able to increase the number of used tiles.
P.S. I use definition “illusion”, because 1024x1024 km theater need 1 048 576 tiles. But we could create illusion with only 8000 - 10 000 tiles and my test was to confirm this )))

Interesting. I have never seen tiling done as well as this. Looking forward to see it shape up and like most BMS boy, secretly hope there will be a campaign someday as well;) Either way- great progress! Can’t wait to see more:)

This is very simple Anybody could make this for any area from Google images.
I have created 9 images from Google Earth - A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3 with 16 km side:
and than, with the great Monster Terrain Tool, I made tiles from each image with the custom numbering:
At the end I have the same tiles matrix for all 9 areas. The difference in tiles numbers only at the beginning - A1 or A2 or C1.
This is typical tile matrix for A1 area:
