How do I make 4 separate control devices work in BMS?
-
Four? Some people have:
Joystick
Throttle
Rudder
TrackIR + Track Clip Pro
2x Cougar MFDs
ICP
??x USB monitors or touchscreensIn other words, welcome to the dance!

I probably have 20 of them connected and i donāt find the UI user unfriendly.
Granted it takes a few minutes to understandā¦.
if youāre not ready to spend these few minutes to try, youāre in a load of hurt.and as stated above, maybe start with the bms manual

i need an icp badly, not having one is really cramping my style

Ok. Hereās my stuff. Forgot to include trackir in the pic, which would have made up four.
How do I set them up?
The controls options inteface is extremely user-unfriendly.The first tool you should be aware of is devicesorting.txt in which you can re-order devices as they appear to BMS. The device order is always equal to the order in the primary device selection dropdown menu. Normally this file doesnāt have to be edited. Itās generally to ensure that devices are ordered the same each time the game is run and to allow editing in cases where you are importing a key file which assumes certain devices are certain numbers.
Second you should be aware of the concept of a āprimary deviceā which can be any number device (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.). The primary device is the only device that can be assigned for pitch and bank stick axis input and the only device for which the POV input is recognized.
Third, button numbers assigned in blocks of 32 depending on device order.
Fourth, all axes (except pitch/bank) are assigned freely in the ADVANCED setup.
Fifth, TrackIR is not a joystick type device and is controlled by 2 checkboxes in the ADVANCED setup.

The very first step would be decide what to do with the Thrustmaster set. The three options are:
1. Not run TARGET
2. TARGET controls only the throttle
3. TARGET controls both throttle and stickSecond, run BMS with TARGET running or not considering the decision above and choose your primary controller. What a lot of people do when changing the selection in the drop-down menu is freak out when the little feedback graphics for throttle and rudder and whatnot stop working. Donāt panic. Choose the controller in the list which has your pitch and bank axes on it and leave it alone.
Third, in Advanced Options, View Control there are 2 check boxes and one drop-down menu choice. Check both and set your Z-axis preference.
Lastly on all 4 pages set axes as desired to your controllers via drop down menu. At this point the bar graph section near the primary device selection drop-down should reflect rudder and throttle input correctly.

Then it comes down to button assignment which is the lionās share of work. In general I suggest taking an existing key file (e.g. BMS - Minimum.key), loading it, and then immediately saving it as Harle1.key. Much like not writing into a library book this means you can always go back to the untouched original. For simple binds the process can be as simple as finding the control you want to bind in the list, clicking it once to highlight, and pressing the joystick button you wish to assign to that command. Repeat for all desired buttons.

IMO, BMS - Minimum.key only has Toggle callback for speed brake switch and HOTAS Warthog is too good to use only toggle callback for SPDBRK. I prefer start from BMS - Basic.key.
Anyway, Its only my 2 cents so you can setup whatever way you want. To understand essential setup for BMS, click āDocumantation and Manualsā from launcher, go to āFalcon BMS Manualsā directry and read

I want to use 2 wifi connected devices, 2 phones basically, can it be done.

I am using touchscreen for MFD and ICP and also some basic switches and panels.
Before touchscreen I was using keyboard for ICP. Numpad works well as ICP. -
Thanks everyone for your input!
Everything seems to be working as intended now
