Tutorial: Creating and Adding Squadron Patches to your Install
-
I have had problems using the F4Res tool.
I do not know how to add the patch to the .idx file listIf you want me to do it for you I can. I’m not sure where you’re getting lost.

I do not know what to do here
-
Put a check mark in the box “Explore after unpack”.
Then click the Unpack button.
The folder with all the patches will open for you to see. It has all the .tga patch files and the patches.irc file.
You need to place your patch .tga file in there and then make an entry in the patches.irc file for your patch.
Just look at the format of the other entries. The last two entries are half the size of the .tga patch file. So if it is 88 x 66 then the entry would be 44 33
So say your patch is named Leandro.tga and is 96x96 in size, the entry would look as follows:
[LOADTRANSIMAGE] Leandro “Leandro.tga” 48 48
Then make sure you do a “Save” of the patches.irc file.
And you just copy and past your Leandro.tga artwork into this folder.
Once the artwork is in the folder and you have made the entry for the patch in the patches.irc, close the folder and click on “Pack” to pack it all back into a patches.idx file.
You’re done at that point.
If you make a mistake/typo in the entry in the patches.irc it will delete everything. So first make a backup of the patches.idx file and put it in a safe place. I usually put it on my desktop.
Good Luck, lemme know how it goes.

And on work path what folder is placed?
-
Point it to your Art>resource folder.
It’s not really important though, it’s just where the folder is held while you work on it. I have it pointed to my desktop in case I decide to keep the folder there and then just drop it into the Art folder when I want. That’s because I used to do a lot of work on patches.

I followed the step by step without problem. But when I open missioncommander I can no longer change the patch, all squadrons have the same and when I open falcon no more appears on any squadron …
CLoud 9, You proposed a little higher to do it. Can you do it for me? I have the .tga file that I can send you?
Thank you very much, good holidays
sorry for my google english

Did you update the imageids.id file in your Data\Art\patches folder with your new patch entry??
It’s a text file and opens with Notepad or Wordpad. It needs to be added in there.
Just add it at the bottom of the file and the number should be one higher than the last, which if I’m correct, should be 70256.

Yes, of course I followed every step described in the first post, thanks anyway

Then it must have something to do with MC.
If you’d like to give me your work I can attempt to implement it into BMS for you.
I wouldn’t use MC though. I’d do it the old fashioned way. Which works.

In the game no patch have visible from now on
And in MC I can no longer change the visible one

I do not understand. But thank you for your proposal to help me.

@RAM22:
I’ve even stole some of your Avatars if the texture is big enough…
Didn’t use mine. No wonder you were banned.
Dis’ a legend like Ara’, and suffer the consequences.

K so I’ve managed to add a squadron patch for the logbook using F4ResManager & now I’m trying to add a squadron with the same patch using Mission Commander… For some reason the patch won’t show up when I look at the squadron in the campaign menu… I’m not sure what I’m missing here but I know my patch is not the only one having this issue… 1st_VFW patch also doesn’t display when I choose it so I’m really wondering what I’m doing wrong… Tried RAM22’s method but when I flip the patch vertically it will also display the patch on its head within the logbook, yet still nothing in the campaign menu… Has anyone else got this to work in 4.33?

To have the patch in your logbook you do not need to use the entry from the patches.idx.
You can simply take your patch and put it in your User>Patches folder. It does not need to be flipped vertically.
You will have issues with MC, but it’s not a MC issue, it’s the BMS patches.irc file inside the patches.idx, it is corrupt.
If you give me your stuff, i.e., the patch.tga I can get it in the files with a corrected patches.irc file so it will work for you in MC.
Once that is fixed, then you can use the patch that will be in the patches.idx to put the patch in your Logbook and in MC.
