Gimbal Play

The slop is still there and almost as bad as it was. I really need to just get the holes drilled and bushes fitted.
Even covering the gimbals in hot glue hasn’t cured it, as they just loosen up and stop resisting over time.

Well, that’s me out of action for a while The slop has come back as the hot glue has worn (as I suspected it might). I took it all apart, and I’ve purposely worsened the slop in the stick base in the attempt to fit a bush, but with no luck so far. If I can’t get the stock gimbals to work, I’m going to have to cough and get FSSB R1. I’d rather not spend all that money, but it’s really either that or I give up simming for good, which I really don’t want to do.
The only other option I’ve got is to try and get the holes drilled to precisely 6mm to fit bearings but I really don’t think I’ll be able to do it so precisely that the slop is gone forever…

gimbals are a terrible thing to have. Would thoroughly recommend FCC3, although I have it on good authority that the FSSB is just as good.

I forgot about that option. Decisions, decisions.

I have the stock Cougar, stock Cougar with MilesD HS mod, the first gen Uber gimbals, the FCC1, FCC3 and FSSB-R1…
And I wouldn’t go back to a positional stick for flying the BMS Viper at all. Static (non-moving) force mods that replace the spring, gimbals and pots with solid state transducers transforms the now antiquated stock Cougar into a realistic FBW high accuracy and quality and long lived controller. The force mods have no slop and improves refueling and close formation stability. The F16 was designed with a force stick and the immersion one feels using a force mod is why my Warthog sits under a dust cover waiting foR DCS.
Both the Realsimulator FSSB and Vipercore FCC3 are top shelf kit. Can’t go wrong with either.

Totally agreed. But what’s with all the thread necromancy?

Its somewhat a tradition here. Not to mention its only been a month… needs to have been 3 or 4 before any respected physician will pronounce time of death.

Granted, but are they still available and what is the price? I’m al,ost afraid to asm the price.

Mower,
Then you need to read the thread where the pro and cons of FCC3 and FSSB are discussed and make an informed decision before you buy.
I have both, so I put my 2 cents in that thread. It’s somewhere under the Joysticks area, pretty recent.
