Korea EM 1989 Update
-
Would be interesting to see. Haven’t really messed with that kind of stuff yet, quite a few things I’m planning to look at before the next big release, just need to find the time to give them proper attention.
Right now I’m also looking at attack ranges/damage/hitchance in 2d for aircraft to account for modified loadouts (a lot of the F16s still have ranges corresponding to use of JSOW/SDB). Also considering adding incoming North Korean air strikes to the Rolling Fire scenario to represent an opening strike by them and make the first few hours more interesting.
2D world is what I’m not brave and skilled enoguh to modify. I do not understand how it works and how should works. An A-10C with same weapons is far mor brutal than a Su-25 if you put the same on Su-25 just for testing. I tried alter some of values to make less effective the A-10 but never worked. For balance purposes only a very few A-10 shouls be allowed in campaign, because they are killing way, way too more vehicles than any unit in the game.
In older and othe Falcon version (even in BMS 4.32) artillery caused the same issues. They acted as they use PGM shells, so I used only a very, very few arty because one single are battalion was able to kill for 10-12 nm a tank battalion which is simply not real and balanced. I have not checked 4.33.

Tomorrow I try to make you a package with role scores.

Sorry, nothing new on the F-4 side, I dont really have a lot of experience with 3d models/art myself, and the only F-4 project for BMS I’m currently aware of is Manos1981s work. I’m hoping once that’s completed I can get permission to use that as part of 1989. In the meantime, the current F-4’s are flyable if not exactly pretty, biggest issue in my experience is the DED not being visible (even when on the HUD its hard to see unless you use the ‘1’ view), and the HUD in general being a little odd.
As for the installer, yes, version 2.51 (in the first post of this thread) is an ‘all in one’ install so it’s all you will need to be up to date.

The F-4s of Manos were integrated into my MOD they were functional even with extended HP qty. which made possible to model the ‘always full AAM + AG’ stores configs. They can be extracted and integrated into 4.33. (I guess…)
You can see in the video AIM-9s above inner wing HPs and bombs under them.

This is an awesome campaign. If the tornado gr1’s are added in future patches, will you be able to make JP-233 work? Would give the tornados a capability worth mentioning.

I can dig out from my DB what I set. In case the 4.33 DB is similar to 4.32 I can guess is very easy to copy the rack and DB settings. I will do it today.

If you can make it work or explain how to get it working in the current build of BMS that would be amazing. I’ve missed out since the last time I played the tornado with your fix

Thank you…

DPRK Hawk ADS? Is it normal?
-
If the campaign is Iron Fortress (3rd one), then yes. There are a few battalions of these in DPRK service representing captured gear. There may also be the odd Stinger or two.

JP-233 database settings. Both rack and weapons and the lines in dat file. You can match CT values and other properties by this.
in rack.dat
rackgroup 79 is used by tornidsUK.dat (ACdata dir.) Rack84 should be the last.
rackgroup is defined in rack.dat (terrdata dir.)
rackgroup is linked to CT by line in rack datSet the values what you see in images and should work.
In DB add JP-233m to HP set qt. to 16.

Role scores inb. soon or tomorrow.

Thanks for the instructions molni, JP233 is now included and working!
Other changes so far working towards 2.55,
-Fixed A-4M external tanks
-Tweaks to AIM-54A/C seeker and aerodynamics
-Adjusted SA-2, SA-3, SA-5 performance (based on SAM Simulator data)
-Slight tweaks to 2d mode accuracy/range numbers for aircraft (reducing ranges to represent non-GPS/glide munitions)
-Adjusted F-5A/E fuelflow, internal fuel, empty weight
-More sounds, tweaked sounds for some aircraft (lowered AV-8 volume slightly) -

Rack edit for blue and red jets, etc. I can send you in package with explanation how to use them.
-
Hayab have made lots of new red weapons they have not integrated into core DB, yet. I guess they will simply replace LODs so in case rack edit will miss new LODs can work with my rack changes. Only question which rack method should be used because BMS4 currently has two. The very old way and a much more complex but more flexible way. Excep a very few AC I used the old method. (JP-233 uses the old method.)

if you need some low-poly lods, here’s latest zip.
upgraded lods with textured nav and landing lites, plus simplified, animated AB plume.

From this pack I used only the EA-6B and A-6E with sknos of Red1 (?).

Hey, very much appreciate you sharing your work! I’d love to include some of the new models and skins in 1989, though it will probably be for the update after this one (so probably v2.6, next patch will be v2.55).
For the racks, I tend to use the bmsrack file, and I actually adapted the JP233 to use it aswell based on your instructions. Its a little more work, but I find being able to get the bomb load orders right and the proper slant configs on TER/MER racks makes it worth it.

In this case you better understand the new system as me so you can adapt also the other changes.
Can you use LOD Editor? -
Yes, though I’m not 100% comfortable with it just yet. I understand how it works and how the stuff is structured, but I probably need to go and practice installing some of the models around just to get a better hands on feel for it. I guess probably the main part thats somewhat unclear is when to replace vs when to just add in new parent/LOD ids for things.
Also, unrelated question, but does anyone know what the RWR should show for various Chinese SAMs? HQ-2 is presumably just a ‘2’ given its origins, but what about HQ-6 and HQ-61?
