Having trouble setting up Thrustmaster T16000 HOTAS
-
Hi,
Pretty new to BMS, definitely new to programming sticks. Have been flying with an old Saitek Cyborg 3D, worked fine but not enough buttons and hats. My T16000 stick and throttle just arrived.
The TARGET software was a little confusing, so I tried without it at first. Could only get either stick or throttle to work at a time, whichever was selected in the Controller UI in BMS. I assume the TARGET software is necessary to make the setup look like 1 controller to BMS.
I’ve partly got the TARGET software figured out now, and have basically got the stick and throttle working. I also have figured out some key bindings, and I have the finger joystick working for cursor slew and the throttle pinky dial for FOV zoom. (I bound the buttons to keyboard commands in TARGET. It’s my understanding that I don’t set anything but axes within BMS - all the bindings should be done in TARGET right)?
My biggest problem is that since I switched to using TARGET so that BMS sees the Thrustmaster Virtual Game Controller, I can’t get any POV hat to work. I understand BMS is only set up to recognize one. I don’t have TrackIR, and plan on using the stick hat for POV, and the throttle hats for TMS, CMS, etc. When moving the hat doesn’t highlight the little arrows in the BMS controller UI, I don’t know what else to do. There doesn’t seem to be a place to set it up using Advanced, and if I’m supposed to bind the hat in TARGET, I don’t know what to bind it to. Without being able to look around, it’s hard to test everything else.
Would really appreciate any assistance.

Never mind, I finally figured it out. Hat is working, now finishing up finding jobs for all the buttons. Anyone interested in the config file when complete?

Hi! Happy that you figured it out! I am trying to bind things correctly on the hotas, but this “only one POV Hat” bothers me. If you want to share your target profile, i’m interested!
(sorry for my bad english, not my mother language :s ) -
as a worthless slug of a noob, who is using the same setup and completely and utterly hopeless, yes, FFS, yes. Tell me who to paypal to get a freaking controls setup wizard modded in?

With all the “options” available as far as controls go, I don’t think an easy-to-use controls setup wizard is in the works. Exactly the same for .key files

Oh no, I can feel my pain before I even get my 1600m. Think you have said what is going to be going through my mind shortly

Hi Jethro-
I am very new to BMS and stick setup also. I have the same TM equipment (HOTAS but no pedals,) and am struggling. When you have a solid config please share!
Thanks!!

I think I understand now. Can anyone check my logic?
Step 1 - use the target software to make a virtual controller profile from the stick and throttle
Step 2 - save the virtual controller profile configured as a script that can be run to set up the controllers again easily before running BMS
Step 3 - Start BMS and enter controller setup and choose the virtual controller. Set the flight control and avionics control axes.
Test to be sure this works or troubleshoot any problems before proceeding. I tested this for my first BMS flight and it was AWESOME!!!
Step 4 - Go back to Target and assign keystrokes to buttons. These are called “events” in TargetNewbie question- Is it necessary to edit the BMS key files or do I just leave this as-is?

i managed to use sbelcl scrip that he mad and i can Say it’s very simple to use… (note that im very noob in this game)
download the file he provided and there is a link to a PDF which at the end it tells you how to set up the keyfile and the script !im still noob to this game and don’t know how to fire the main gun but at least i can move my joystick and Throttle and it’s kick ass…
here what i did so far :
first thing download this script by sbelcl https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29319-Thrustmaster-T16000-FCS
-extract the file…
- you should see 3 files and link to the PDF…
-one of them called KeyFile, copy, and move that to you installed BMS folder user/Config and paste it there…
-launch T.A.R.G.E.T and load the .tmc file(it should be called FalconBMS IIRC) and press the Green play button !
-launch BMS,go to setup/control and the see if your joystick Axis are working also the Throttle (make sure to change it from keyboard to Thrustmaster combined or something like that)
at first it’s kind of out of place but it’s ok go to advance and check flight control and avionics to see if your joystick or Throttle works well…
sorry if everything i said didn’t make sense or ununderstandable ! if you need help feel free to PM me
hope this helped !

Hi,
Hi found something strange on the script, dunno if has anything to do with country code pages, but on the target script for example:
TriggerFirstDetent sends an L_ALT + /
TriggerSecondDetent sends an L_ALT + /define TriggerFirstDetent REXEC(25, 20, “ActKey(KEYON+PULSE+L_CTL+‘/’);”
define TriggerSecondDetent REXEC(20, 20, “ActKey(KEYON+PULSE+L_ALT+‘/’);”)On the event tester when i click on button 1 i see:
Key Press: LALT
Key Press: -On the event tester when i click on shift + button 1 i see:
Key Press: LCTL
Key Press: -On the game, after loading the key file, i see this keys assigned to those events:
Alt m - assigned to first trigger detent
Ctl m - assigned to second trigger detentAnyone as any idea of what is the problem here?
