-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated… Again!
-
My next project is an attempt to partially solve the washed-out HUD problem by using the HUD repeater in YAME. I am going to try to figure out how to put a button on ICE’s Helios profile so that when I press the button, the Yame Hud repeater replaces the ICP and vice versa. I don’t know if I have the skill to do so, but will try.
I want to change the default state on some of your toggle switches. In other Helios profiles, I can into individual switches in the Helios control panel, but for some reason, on your latest BMS profile, I cannot get to such toggles as the air source knob or Eng Feed knob. Why?
What’s wrong with the HUD?? Unfortunately, this project will take a lot of work on your end. Helios essentially displays itself OVER everything else so for you to see the HUD repeater in YAME, you’ll have to do what I did for the CPD –- basically make a cut-out and then get that section of Helios to appear/disappear in tandem with showing/hiding the HUD.
As for the switches or anything for that matter, I’ve “locked down” everything on my profile, mainly to prevent things from accidentally being changed or moved. This is easily remedied by clicking the padlock icon next to the switch/button/panel you want to edit. Good luck!!

You could add a new window with only the HUD in it and use “masked” option to have the transparant background. Then overlay/position the window over the Helios ICP location. Each YAME window can be set with a key or key combination to toggle (show/hide) the window. So Helios could have a region linked to that specific shortcut and so the YAME window with HUD would appear/disappear on top of the Helios ICP
Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as this, as mentioned above.

ICE and Focaldesign
Before I saw ICE’s post above, I tried to get the HUD to show/hide in Yame without loading Helios. After several attempts, I got it to work and assigned the shift, control, alt + z key combo to show/hide. All worked well until I tried to also use Helios and fell into the trap that Ice mentioned above. Unfortunately, this project may be over my head to do. -
Still wondering WHY you need something like this in the first place?
-
Because many times the green lettering/numbers on the Hud are washed out and are hard to see. I have searched the forums and there does not seem to be a method to change the hud color although I thought there used to be a way to do so. To bad I cannot get the Hud repeater to appear on a MFD like some other planes.

Success at last. This is probably most useless piece of sh-t ever prepared by anyone, but at least I was able to do it. I was looking at the wrong device to show the HUD. Rather than the ICP, I chose the Left MFD and it worked. So know with YAME, if I want a HUD view because I cannot read the HUD, I just press my key combo and the HUD appears on the left MFD, hit the key combo again, and the regular MFD reappears. Best of all, it works with Helios as there already exits a cutout for Helios. Its a good thing that I am retired and have nothing else to do with my time. -

I see. If you look at the lower right of the ICP, there’s a button there called HUD CLR. Press that. It cycles you between green and white colors on the HUD. If you want to try out a different color, there’s also a “hidden button.” The lower right screw on the ICP is a hidden button that changes the HUD color. I hope that’s a better solution to your issue rather than losing an MFD to this problem.

I’ve now updated the first page of the blog to reflect the new TARGET profile I’ve uploaded. Please read about it here!
Credit goes to Scotters for bringing Rybo’s profile to my attention and also credit to Rybo for the inspiration for the change.

That was the trick. How you did it is beyond me but that takes car of the issue.

The “cycle” button is just multiple key presses mapped to that one button

I’m not sure what he means by p.33…… those are just gauges. Does he mean p.3?
Ice you need to see the latest manual from YAME docs folder!!
-
LOL… I had a shortcut on the desktop… only realized it was linked to the v1.0 manual, not the v1.1 manual. Duh!!

Even though your color change trick was perfect, my quest to see a HUD on the mfd enabled me to better understand Yame so that excerise did not go to waste. Now reviewing your target changes. Thanks again. -
Glad it was a learning experience for you! Unfortunately, like I said, you’ll need to edit Helios as well in order for YAME and Helios to work well together. Shouldn’t be too hard to do… in fact, since Helios is on top, you can have the HUD displayed all the time and just trigger Helios to show/hide the ICP “cover.” If you really, REALLY, REALLY need this, I can give it a go later on.

Do you configure either or both of the Throttle Friction Control lever or the China Hat in any of the controller screens in BMS?PS: Since I love tinkering, I may try your idea on Helios/Yame in the near future.
One point on your new target profile, users that have the TM rudder pedals (like me) need to exclude them from your profile so that they can be assigned separate from Thrustmaster Combined.
I have completed a modification of your Helios profile for a “hot” start in which all the buttons and switches, other than the radio stuff (which I could not figure out), should be in the right position when you start a hot jet. I have not attached such profile in deference to your desire not to disseminate mods to your profile.

Throttle friction is not used, China Hat is for zoom/FoV control. None are configured in the controller screen.

Hmmm… not sure what you mean by this. Can you give me a screenshot?

Thanks for the kind thoughts but you are free to post your work as well. Weepop’s profile is basically a modded version of my profile
The radio stuff is understandable as the volume knobs aren’t exactly sync’ed with Falcon, nor is there any way to sync it that I know of. Can you give me a list of the buttons/switches that have changed positions?Have you had any issues with the switches in the “cold-and-dark” setup when starting with a hot jet?

Will respond to the rest of your questions later:
onfigure(&LMFD, MODE_EXCLUDED);
Configure(&RMFD, MODE_EXCLUDED);
Configure(&HCougar, MODE_EXCLUDED);
Configure(&T16000, MODE_EXCLUDED);
Configure(&TFRPRudder, MODE_EXCLUDED); -

I use 2 Helios profiles, one labeled as ramp and one labeled as hot and before I go into the game, I choose which profile to use. Most of the time the group that I fly with do not have the patience to do a ramp start so we usually start with the jet hot. Hence, my need for a hot profile. I will go through my ramp checklist later and give you a list of switches that I changed. -
Thanks sobe!
