-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated… Again!
-
Standby guys… working on a new version now.
-
Only the single-screen version for now. If there’s any demand for the two-screen version, please post here and I’ll do some more work on that version.
-
I finally get it all working, and you have to throw out something better, sigh.
I LIVE FOR BETTER!!!
Time to build a new box then!
Cheers

Ice - what are the up dates and fixed in the latest release ?
-
Should all be explained in the blog post, Ironman!
@Trilogysc - sorry bud!

@Ice
I am using your recent HELIOS/YAME One-screen setup, BTW excellent work…
I see that you have LUA scripts for the ‘set indicator’ and ‘set position’ bindings for the 2Toggle Landing Gear Handle,
but I noticed that the landing gear handle ‘red’ indicator light will not illuminate in-game when gear moves.
I can right-click the gear handle in HELIOS and get the ‘red’ indicator to toggle on-off, but no joy in-game.
Can you help in sorting this issue out ? -
It’s been that issue for a very, VERY long time. If you can figure it out, let me know!
Not exactly sure if it’s a Helios or a sharedmem issue… will have to work it out. -
thanks -Ice

Hi Ice!
Thanks for your awesome work. I’m in the process of installing and getting everything to work but I have found a problem. First I start YAME and then Helios with your profile, but when I do it, the Helios images get behind the YAME indicators with the grey background and I can’t see them. If I close YAME then I can see them as they’re behind… any idea of what is the problem?
Thanks!

Go to CLIENT -> WINDOWS -> RIGHT SCREEN in YAME and make sure MASKED is ticked. If it isn’t, then click EDIT, tick the MASKED box, and click SAVE.
Then follow these instructions:
@-Ice:Here’s how you force YAME to create masking:
Start YAME
On the UI, go to CLIENT -> MISC -> LOAD LAYOUT and load my Ice1ScreenSetup.xml file
Click APPLY
Go to CLIENT -> GAUGES -> FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS
Click APPLY
Go to RUN and click START YAME CLIENTThere will be a small window that will come up with some %% numbers as YAME makes the masks. Windows may even report YAME as not responding, just tell it to wait for YAME to respond. As soon as YAME finishes its voodoo black magic mumbo-jumbo, you should see the gauges come up.
Note that the filename is now different (Ice1ScreenSetup_v121.xml) but the procedure is the same.
Also, with the new profile, you can make a shortcut in your YAME folder, point the YAME button in helios to that shortcut, and you’re done.
In my current setup, I start Helios first, then use the buttons on the SYSTEM panel to startup what I need. Check out p.14 of the YAME64_manual_v1.2.pdf to find out more. My current shortcut has this on the target box: Y:\YAME64\YAME64.exe -client -layout Ice1ScreenSetup_v121.xml -minimize

Another thing to check is to open up the Helios profile and make sure the BEHAVIOR Always On Top box is ticked. It should be by default.

Thanks for the help Ice!
I did it but it doesn’t work already. I have left everything as you have, I have only modified the configuration of the windows in YAME and Helios.
- First my screen configuration, and the modifications made in both programs:
a) One touch screen 1920x1080 (main screen)
b) One cylindrical with two projectors 3840x1080 (where I’ll display Falcon BMS)- Video opening Helios and then YAME (I’ve already checked that the option ‘Always on top’ is enabled in Helios):
I’m also having issues with the Helios profile editor, has anyone experienced this?
Thanks for your help. Best regards.
-
I forgot to say that I put the main screen of the Falcon BMS with the cockpit extraction tool incorporated in coordinates 1920x1080… but I don’t think that interferes as I don’t even start falcon…
Regards

1. Follow the instructions again. The fact that your video shows you have a gray background instead of your normal desktop shows that YAME has not made a mask for your screen.
2. Re-check your Helios setup again. Maybe un-tick it and then tick it again and save. For some reason, ALWAYS ON TOP is not enabled on your profile. Make sure you click on Monitor 2… double click on it so it shows up in the center of the Helios window.Quick test video:

Hi ICE:
It’s been a while. Hope all is well. I’m back in the pit after a brief time away and have just completed a portion of my project to build a modest BMS Falcon pit since my return. I’m reaching out to seek your input and advice. I’m configuring my glass pit using five displays, along with a Samsung Galaxy 8 Android Tablet, as follows:
1. Samsung 24" Non-TS (Main Display for HUD)
2. LG 32" Non-TS (Center Console with TM Cougar MFD’s velcro’d to a mask overlay I constructed)
3. ASUS 19.5" Touch Screen (Hoping with your help to configure for interactive left and right Aux and and main consoles)
4. Lilliput 8" Touch Screen (ICP)
5. MIMO 5" Touch Screen (Instr Mode, HSI, Fuel Qty)
6. Samsung 8" Tablet (Falca’s WDP - Hopefully)
As noted above, I’d like to use the #3 display as an interactive touch screen for the Lt & Rt consoles. My plan is to use your updated Helios Profiles but, I’m not certain whether to use Helios, YAME or, both. Would you kindly advise. BTW. I want to thank you again for your help in getting me back up and running BMS after my blue screen debacle a few months back. Equally important, thanks for introducing me to YAME. It’s a fantastic product.Best regards,
Mike -
Hello Mike!
Point One - Why use a 24" screen for main display? Why not use your LG 32" instead?
Point Two - Why have stuff on a 32" screen and duplicate it on a 19.5" screen? Use my profile instead and you won’t need your lilliput/Mimo/Samsung
Point Three - Why not just use two screens: the 32" for your BMS gaming needs and the 19.5" for Helios+YAME? Much easier. You can use the 24" screen connected to a different PC for your WDP needs but note that this is also already integrated in my Helios profile. -
1. Follow the instructions again. The fact that your video shows you have a gray background instead of your normal desktop shows that YAME has not made a mask for your screen.

Make sure you click on Monitor 2… double click on it so it shows up in the center of the Helios window. Thanks Ice! I’ve installed everything back and I’ve un-ticked and ticked againt the “Always on top” option and it does still the same to make sure but still the same problem.
Can you post a photo of how it looks like YAME only, so I can see how it should look like masked? That way I could see if the error it’s coming from YAME or Helios…
Thanks!
-
Again, the issue is with Helios. Are you selecting Monitor 2 to start with and then clicking the ALWAYS ON TOP option?
“YAME only” is how your screen looks like when you start up YAME, but with masking… so without the colored parts, just the gauges. You don’t have masking done in YAME, but that is not your problem. Helios+YAME should work properly regardless of whether YAME profile is masked or not. You can see in my video that I’ve taken off masking to give you an example.
-
Here is YAME by itself with and without masking. I’ve opted for the red color as background to make it stand out more.
Here it is again with Helios over it. You will see that the masking isn’t the issue. I’ve “cut” the left MFD so you can see my dektop background (masked) or the red color (no mask).

Yeah I hear what your saying. However, I wanted to do something with a bit more fidelity and realism.
