Warthog Throttle not recognised in win 10
-
I have the same issues! tonight the throttle is not recognized. Yesterday evening it was perfect, as usual. It’s strange, may be a W10 update related issue?
Any suggestion is welcome… -

Any suggestion is welcome…I’m on win 8, so I can’t confirm if it’s win 10 related. I hate to be the bad news messenger, but in my experience the USB device not recognized error means there’s something wrong with the USB device. Happened to me with my Track IR a while ago, it suddenly died. For your sake I hope I’m wrong and it’s windows related. Maybe try on a PC with different OS installed?
-
To check the device itself you could also try booting a live Linux environment from a USB stick (you won’t need to install anything) and see if the joystick is listed there.
i’m still on win7 for use with BMS (and will never ever install win10), so I have no further advice w/r to testing on win10.
I’m afraid your description sounds very much like a dead throttle, I hope I’m wrong though! Fingers crossed….
All the best, Uwe

Damn USB Hub… I connected the Throttle directly to the PC and… et voilà… working again, and recognized from W10 and Target!
I’m very happy of the happy ending, I hope sub101 can solve his problem too!
Cheers -
What USB-HUB? Active / Passive?
Active should be no problem…Passive can only work with up to 500 mA!
You can have a look on this in the computer properties under Windows…
Maybe, if not now, some time ago, there was to much consumption for the HUB?
Normally a four port passive HUB can handle up to four devices, but depends on what a single device needs.
If you have e.g. two devices with 100 mA and two devices with 160 mA, that could end in suffer… -
It is an active usb hub, 4 port, and I use only two port for TM Warthog throttle and stick.
Yeah, it’s strange, probably a failure on the hub supply line… I’ll investigate in the next days if there are other reasons related to this malfunction. -
Great to hear you got it working again [emoji3]. Better a faulty USB hub than a Warthog Throttle! I always keep the Warthog (and Track IR) directly connected to the PC, for all other stuff I use a powered USB hub.

Yep, same here (throttle and stick connected to the front facing ports of my gaming PC).
Good to hear it’s not the WT!

quick update, throttle shows up in win 10 as unspecified device with a driver error? now I’m confused. thrustmaster still have not replied. is there a way of testing the throttle to find out if its broken
-
…and a quick update from me too… unfortunately, my throttle is not working anymore, and changing the USB ports doesn’t help.
After I had open a ticket, the Thrustmaster italian customer center answered, and they suggested to try the Bootloader method, but it didn’t solved it.
If you want, I can send you the pdf with the procedure. Send me a PM with your mail… -
Thanks, i tried the bootloader method, still no joy.sounds like we have same problem. was it after a win 10 update, i sometimes get windows to recognise the throttle, but with a driver error. what is your next plan?
-
I don’t know… Yes, I saw the there it was a Windows update in those days. I tried to get back the pc to a previous backup point, but it says it’s not possible… #%&#@!!!
I’ll wait the response of the customer center, then I will open the throttle and I’ll check by myself, hoping that my electronic experience will be helpful!Edit: the throttle works and is recognized by OS, on another pc with W10 (probably not updated)!
-
i have a feeling its a win 10 problem, tried to do a restore but it didn’t work. i opened my throttle and checked bootloader buttons and they worked fine. probably will have to send to thrustmaster to have a look, or find somebody with perhaps win 7.

Here the last mail received from TM Customer Center:
Thanks for giving us the informations we have required.
Probably the firmware contained into the MAIN PCB card is compromised and requires the substitution of the entire MAIN PCB.
In order to verify the guarantee we need the invoice.I don’t find the invoice, and the 2 years of guarantee expires surely in these days.
-
A little update, I’ve asked TM to send me a spare Main PCB, let’s see what they’ll answer.
BTW I see that at DCS forum there are a lot of people that reported the same identical issue… I’m very disappointed! -
Got my new warthog yesterday and it would work until I entered the game, then it wouldn’t. I also have Win 10. Figured out that it simply didn’t like my powered USB hub, so plugged into my computer directly and put other stuff on the hub and haven’t had any problems since.

A similar message from them myself on other parts - tell them you don’t have the receipt any longer but the serial number is **** and they will be good to honour your claim.

Thx Malc, already tried with the S/N, but it didn’t help…
It’s a pity that a company like TM didn’t solve the issue since the first issues came out, almost 10 years ago… -
Here is an update, about my dead throttle. looks like firmware, got corrupted, or deleted somehow, TM support have offered to send me a new pcb at a cost of 53.80 Euros, I will pay this. it will hopefully solve the problem. The question is WHY did it happen in the first place. is my pc going to blow the memory on this card.

I solved it with a new Main PCB, at the cost you’ve mentioned. They sent it to me in few days.
From now on I will keep the HOTAS disconnected from pc when not in use.
