Saitek X-52 Profile

And is it me or mouse wheel on the throttle does not increase/decrease radar range? At the pictures provided, it says that the wheel is used to increase/decrease radar range. I couldn´t find a keystroke for that. When using the AG radar it does increase/decrease GAIN, but not RANGE. It does nothing when the FCR is in AA mode.
Am i missing something?
Thanks!!

Thanks Kesmonkey, this a very nice profile for the X-52 but I think you had a cockpit builders mind when you created it. My problem not taking anything away from your work is that with your profile I end up having to use the cockpit switches much more than I like to. Because of course not having a cockpit I have to map a second level set of keys to manage certain functions.
But good work anyway.

No problem espo. I’d like to get to the bottom of this (nearly) as much as you do.
I’ve one last thing to check with you, and then I’m all out of ideas.
Let’s make sure that your X-52’s controller ID is 0, and that Falcon is reading that ID correctly.
Run “dxdiag” from you Windows run box. On the Input page (see pic 1), scroll down until you see your X-52, and in the third column you should see a 0.
Then, from the game’s controller setup screen, check that your joystick button numbers are in the 1-32 range, rather than anything higher.KesMonkey,
Got it to work!! Looks like it had something to do with the way I copied and pasted into the BMS cfg file.
I started all over again from scratch and that seemed to do it. I knew I was doing something stupid!
Thanks lots for you help and patience. It’s a great profile and I’m going to enjoy using it.:Despo

Same problem here.
I do want to say thanks for investing the time for developing this. I’ve been trying it out with each new update. I have absolutely no issues except for the scroll wheel issue noted above. Thanks again!

Same but it looks like mine does nothing (i don’t know what radar gain is, so I probbly just haven’t noticed)
What is radar gain ?Also, my mouse didn’t worked well with radar cursor so I have put Radar cursor to the POV Hat of the throttle
how to set radar cursor to that mouse again ? Its not so important but i’d like to know just in case…Thanks for all you’ve done and shared with this X52 profile and thanks for answering to our “problems”

Gain controls how “bright” or “strong” are the returns, at least in AG mode. Go to any AG mode and cycle gain, the more you increase it, the stronger (brighter) are the returns and vice-versa

The mouse wheel (as well as the mouse mini-stick) are mapped in the Saitek SST profile (Falcon BMS X-52.pr0), as these unfortunately can’t be mapped within the sim itself.
So, mouse wheel up and down is mapped in this profile to ctrl+F3 and control+F4, as these are the keyboard callbacks for “HOTAS-Range Knob Down” and “HOTAS-Range Knob Up”.
It has been working fine for me with FCR in AA modes (except of course, the ACM modes).
Icidentally, I originally attempted to map Rotary 2 to the radar range axis within the game, as that is where it should be, and although I was able to successfully map it, it didn’t appear to work in the game, which is why HUD brightness is now mapped there. :?Although I didn’t need to do it myself, you might find success if you disable your Saitek magic Mouse drivers.

There’s a different reason. There are two keystroke files included with FBMS. Keystrokes.key is the one that most people will use, as the controls are similar to previous Falcon versions. However, I discovered some issues when I started to customise this file. DMS right, for example, can’t be mapped successfully using keystrokes.key (others are having this issue too). Some functions are also duplicated in this file. So, I decided to customise BMS.key instead, which contains a much more comprehensive list of functions, and had none of the issues I had experienced with keystrokes.key.
Unfortunately, this means that many of the keyboard keys you’re used to using are now mapped differently.
Personally, for the first time in my long history of playing flight sims, I don’t actually need to touch the keyboard (except to take a screenshot), as everything vital is mapped to the X-52, and everything else is point and click in the cockpit.I’ll look into the issues with keystroke.key, and if I can resolve them, I’ll probably then customise the keystrokes.key file, and include that in a future update.

Excellent! That’s probably my fault I’m afraid. There were a couple of underscores there that shouldn’t have been (thanks to nomis for alerting me). Sorry about that.
Glad you’re sorted now! -

You’re quite welcome.
Check out my reply to nomis regarding your issue. -

No problem Tunechi.
If you ever want to put radar cursor controls back on the mouse stick, just re-download my files. -
Hi KesMonkey,
where can i find the funktion too show my flight and packeges in the hsd?
i have try the combo ctrl + o but this shows me the “online pilots”…thx.

Hey buddy
About the range issue, thanks for replying. I found that the .pr0 file available for download has the settings for GAIN mapped to it (F4 and F3 and also the description field of both). I remapped then to CTRL-F3 and CTRL-F4 and changed the description field just for the sake of it. Now i have a functional Radar Range Knob
Thanks again for all the support provided here!!
-
Another minor point…
The Cursor Down key was conflicting with my TrackIR Pause Key (F9). I changed the assignment for pause in TrackIR software. That seems to be the easiest thing to do.

D’oh! You’re right! I updated that days ago, and forgot to include the updated file in the download.
Thanks for pointing this out. Not sure how that one slipped by.
Sorry about that.Download links updated.

Update: So sorry guys, I had Radar Gain mistakenly mapped to the mouse wheel instead of Radar Range.
My apologies for this error.
Download links updated to reflect this fix. -

Oh yes, I should update the instructions to mention this. I had long ago remapped my TrackIR keys, so it didn’t occur to me that the default mapping for radar cursor down (F9) would conflict.
Thanks mate for helping me fix the (hopefully) last couple of issues. Much appreciated. -

I´m very glad i could help buddy.

Thanks to nomis for pointing this out:
With these keyfiles, Radar Cursor control is mapped to the default keys, which are F8 (up), F9 (down), F10 (left), and F11 (right). This may unfortunately cause conflict with your TrackIR keys. Simply remap your TrackIR keys, if needed. -
Many thanks for this. Can’t wait to give it a whirl…
