Reinstalling 4.33U1
-
Hello tech experts,
I am trying to install 4.33 U1 (along with Updates 2-4) but run into an ‘Access Violation at address 773A9BAE in ‘ntdll.dll’ Read at address 66225853’. The Falcon BMS Setup Wizard opens and I get this message right after I click Accept under the license agreement. When I click OK to the error message, I notice a BMS setup icon on the program tray at the bottom of display but it will not maximize. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
Have you “extracted” the setup files & folders from the archive you downloaded FIRST and then run from its location. Not the Archive (zip file).
It should be placed in a safe location for use again latter with U2-U5

Yes, i created a Falcon RD folder and put contents inside. I also downloaded and ran the registry cleanup for U1. Not sure if that helped or hurt the process.

Can you take a “PrintScreen” of your folder structure. Showing the content. Sorry if I’m barking up the wrong tree. (pun intended)
It normally looks like this:

Sure. Here they are. Thanks very much for your time.

The 3 Incremental files need to be in the Falcon BMS 4.33 U1 Setup folder along with the Setup and unrar.dll files!!!

Ok. I’ll try that. It appears Shadow has his Setup file separate from the incrementals.

I have it both ways, don’t ask me how that works!! LOL
You’re having an issue, so might as well try it!

The setup wizard starts up but after I click Accept to the license agreement, nothing happens.
-
Is this the first time you’re installing BMS??

Nope. I must confess, I had 4.33U1 installed and it worked fine. Then I tried to add the incremental updates and somehow I screwed it up so I deleted all folders. I now know this is NOT the proper way to remove. I’m sure this mistake has got to have something to do with the problem.

What OS you have?

Windows 10.

Do you know how to go into the registry via regedit??
If so, you can go in there and see if there is still a registry entry for Benchmark Sims and delete it manually if there is.
If that’s the problem?

I’ll give it a shot. Thanks!

No joy. Found the BMS file and deleted, restarted computer then downloaded clean U1 and tried to install. Same result - it allows me to Accept license agreement then nothing happens. I also noticed in the registry the Microprose Falcon 4.0 folder. Would that also need to be deleted?
-
No, the Falcon 4.0 is a requirement.
I don’t know, but maybe you should try deleting Falcon 4.0, possibly it’s corrupt?? And reinstall it.
You can do it through Control Panels>Programs>Uninstall Program.
You’ve tried everything else!!

I’m at a loss. I even tried running the Clean_Public_BMS_4.33 U1 zip from your post last year.

This post is deleted! -
Yes, just downloaded clean U1 from Torrent and attempted to install just that one. Same result - nothing.
