Any progress on ground unit locations and movements ?
That’s going to be a while - I have been buried at work and am about to go on vacation, and there are other intermediate priorities. So, 3-4 weeks. But it’s towards the top of the list.
-
I wanted to use this great tool but I have this error:
some idea ?
Thx

Hi Mira73,
check and see if the file which is referenced in the error message exists on your harddrive.
-> D:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\theater.lstcheers

Hmm. Very strange. I will have to look at the code later. Sorry to not have an immediate answer for you, and that it’s not working. We’ll get you sorted out, though.

I looked at the code today and I cannot see how this would be happening. Obviously, it is, so I’m mystified. It’s such a weird problem I’m not even sure what to suggest you try next. A few questions:
- Does this happen for every mission you try to open?
- Does it happen if you open briefing (.vmtb) files (assuming you have one handy)?
- Does it happen with every theater?
- Can you post the contents of your theater.lst file? I don’t think it’s even getting that far, but maybe that’s it.
- Is there anything weird about the permissions in the theater.lst file?
- Have you tried deleting your VMT installation and downloading a fresh one?
- Have you tried running a previous version of VMT?
Sorry - I know that’s a lot but I’m at sort of a loss.
-
Today I will test the Balkan…
-
interesting … I installed Balkan, but VMT can not see this theater …

I used it without any problem, not the latest version of both on date, though.

So, that sure looks like either a permissions problem or some sort of disk corruption.
If you’re willing to run VMT as an administrator, that might rule out permissions.
Have you rebooted lately? That’s my next suggestion, as well as running CHKDSK, assuming that’s still a Windows thing. I stopped using Windows except to fly BMS years ago, so I’m sort of out of date on what it’s like these days.

I get following error when trying to open saved cam from Lorik’s Balkans.

Can you try the latest version? I think the one you’re using is quite out of date, and may have a fix for that. Balkans database is pretty weird, and I’ve had to add more than one workaround for it.

Roger will try didnt realize there was a newer version. Thanks.
Tried new version now it does this:

Hmm. At least it’s a different error…
So, that looks like it’s in the part of the code where it tries to figure out what theater the mission you just picked is in. Can you post your Data/Terrdata/theaterdefinition/theater.lst file, and the path of the mission file you tried to open? It looks like it couldn’t find either the data directory or the campaign directory for the theater for some reason. Maybe you have an old theater listed in the theater.lst file that you’ve deleted?

Just a follow up, I got the same error with a KTO Joseon save file. I placed the save file into the reg KTO save folder and it loaded without issue.
It appears to be an issue with the Korea/Balkan alt campaigns that have been recently created by Lorik and Kaos.

Thanks for the followup. I have had another project taking my time away from VMT lately (helping get the 440th VFW up and running), but I’m getting close to the point where I’ll go back to spending more time on VMT, so hopefully I can take a look at this before too long.
Sorry it’s not working for you.

Would it be possible in af future version, to be able to seperate the map window from the controls? That way you would be able to show a presentor screen on say, a beamer, and then have the controls on the laptop. Just like powerpoint for example.

Hello Tyrant,
I see you’re providing a Mac client, is Linux support on the cards anytime soon? I could help with testing & debugging if you’re interested.
Thanks for this fantastic tool & keep up the great work!
All the best,
Uwe

PS: looks like the current version also works rather nicely in WINE, good job!
All the best,
Uwe
