I have no comms
-
Hi All,
As I have noted in earlier posts, I am new to Falcon BMS and i am still finding my way around. I viewed a few tutorials re ramp starts and after following along carefully, I am unable to establish any comms. I did the data card thing with no luck. I tried to start from the runway and still have no comms. Can anyone help?
Thanks -
When you loaded the data cartridge, did you go to the Comms tab, click over to make the preset 15 and then the Default box will highlight green, click on Set Tower and your Airbase name will appear, then click Save.

In before DeeJay telling you to dial the frequency into the UFC manually. Putting the tower freq into a channel preference in the DTC is a nice parlor trick and a luxury. If you are learning or troubleshooting step 1 is to cut out the luxuries and shortcuts. If you are launching out of Kunsan you press COM1-2-9-2-3-ENT on the ICP, verifying “UHF 292.30” on the DED. If you do that and still can’t get comms then you have a legit problem.

Thanks to you and Cloud9. I will attempt as you say not sure exactly how to perform those steps yet but I will give it a go.

“I have no comms” is the new “How do I enable NWS”. Doesn’t anyone RTFM? :uham:

ThanksIn all fairness, BMS can be bewildering and outright frightening to a newbie if you start fresh. I converted from F4:AF in 2011 and had many many questions too (and I still do ;))
Anyway, to set your tower frequency when you enter the cockpit, you need to find out the frequency of the airbase you’re starting from first. I assume you’re using the stock Korea theatre that comes with BMS?
Cheers, Uwe

Hi, Are you using a 5.1 setup on your PC?? IF so set it to Stereo and comms will work again… There is a bug with 5.1/7.1 systems and the Comms working in BMS… I reported it years ago but it never got any love… just a thought as it is there and perhaps that is the problem…

I use a 5.1 system with BMS, and IVC through a 5.1 USB headset. No worries.

Sound card settings was the problem for me as well when I first started and could not get comms to work. Had to switch to stereo settings.
