Aegean Theatre - IAP charts
-
Thank you Nikos but actually actually were your charts that led me there, if was for me I ejected myself and we are cool, ready for choppers
By the way, I feel you, ILS are, maybe, for them:
But I have to confess, I love that film and I “use” ILS sometimes, I like when I pass through “marker” and I hear the signal and I see the green light flashing:uham:
Yeap, we are both at the same side, that is good.
As a great friend of mine (Reinhard “Falcontower”) said: TACAN approaches are the real hard way, the way to go…. ;).
I don’t of course underestimate the ILS approaches, they are valuable with bad weather.
But, if you know to execute the TACAN approaches, then to execute an ILS one is just like a walk in the park. The opposite one can’t stand, if you get my point.

Nikos.I get your point! Anyway fly Tacan it is a kind of “act of faith”, that’s what makes it so addictive and funny

Yeap, you are fully right.
You must highly respect the procedure and be at exact altitude at the specific Fix (means Radial and DME). Only then you can be safe and have a nice and smooth landing.
Try them (TACAN or VORTAC approaches) with low fog in order to verify this ;).

Hello guys.
Well with the coming of new Aegean theater v2.0 for BMS 4.33, we have new procedures.
The ILS approach to RWY 34L of Ataturk airport is a nice one…
Give it a try.

And an other nice new one is the ILS approach to RWY 15 of Makedonia airport.

And the Usak airport in Turkey is fully nav. charted with an airport diagram, departure charts and an approach chart.
Enjoy it.

Well dear Nikos it was a moment of complete disorientation. I didn’t recon correctly the 70 deg angle from IAF so coming from the south I performed a direct entry and not a teardrop which lead in a complete wrong side of holding which became obvious when following the 12 DME ARC to R260 and perform a miss approach procedure entering from the north the holding side was oposite….:drink:

Hi again my dear friend.
Sounds nice that you found the issue.
In order to help a little more, you can download if you want an approach by me for the specific RWY 26 of Nea Anchialos with low visibility of 0.63 NM (as in the ILS CAT I) from here:
Video (284 MB): http://www.mediafire.com/file/dplqpa6w2rkts6a/LGBL_TCN26_by_Nikos.mp4/file
Chart (532 KB): http://www.mediafire.com/file/0ao56yet6d59wf9/LGBL_TACAN26.pdf/fileThe only difference if I remember correctly to this procedure is the elevation of RWY that was at 70 FT (now it is 20 FT).
Notice how nice I correct the little offset due to wind at the arc as also even below MDA with no “in sight” how greatly the procedure guides me (you) to almost a perfect alignment with the RWY.
I hope to enjoy it…
Nikos.
