Need help : DIY additional panel for BMS
-
Hi,
I would like to build an addional panel for BMS, using it just in front of my Warthog throttle and I need some help for choosing the card to discuss with BMS :
as you can see, there are 28 buttons and 2 rotaries (CRS and HDG).
Could I use BBI32 leobodnar ? or do I need another card for BMS ?
Thanks a lot

CRS and HDG (although now able to be emulated with analogue axis) are IMHO better emulated with encoders, and are in no way a rotary button (which is Always limited in number of position)
So I would suggest a BU0836X with the capability to connect buttons, encoders and 8 analogue axis -

Maybe I’m wrong with my terms, I actually have this for another project : https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/mechanical-rotary-encoders/7899523/
is it encoder for you ?
If yes, what are rotaries ?
Thanks

A rotary is usually a multiple position (4, 8, 10, 12) button with 36 or 45° (or other) angle between positions.
Like the one for your TCN - NAV ILS/TCN and ILS/NAV button which is a 4 positions, 45° angles
Once you get at the 4th position, you can’t go to the first with the same angular movement, you have to go BACKAn encoder turns to the infinity in both direction. That’s what used for CRS, HDG, Pressure, speedbug.
Rotaries are programmed like pushbuttons, but not all keyboard interface can support encoder. I know the BU0836X can as this is what I use for mine.
but as I said, if you Don’t want to mess around with encoders, have a look in the Advanced control pages of the Ui and you can use pots (analogue axis, just like your joystick) to emulate the heading, crs and pressure knob.
Never did myself but I know it’s possible since 4.34. And usually pots are much easier to interface than encoders.
Personnally, I prefer encoders, they provide a much more realistic touch -
Thanks for your help
I have encoders with BBI64 and it seems to work like you say.
Just to try with BMS now. I don’t want axis for HDG, ALTI and CRS
Thanks

do I need to buy some special encoder ? with a special pulse/round ?
thanks
