Hi Volks,
I’m getting old…
A year ago I set my VA so that I activate the listening with the k, home and end keys.
Unfortunately I don’t remember how I did it.
Can someone help me?Regards
MadDocI can give you only rough direction… (as I don’t know either, but I’ve seen how they did it) …
You should use “New Command” an then inside add statement for those keys you want (on press. this …OR .that. Do…) , and make action “Start listening” on key-press for those keys… it’s kinda easy … just need fiddle a bit with that, but definitely ISN’T impossible
Cheers

VA has become too powerful… you can even write CSharp applets inside … that is really UnSafe… and is why they implemented “Block unsafe commands” … Like MS Word , Excel … blocking “unsafe” vbs
Someday , someone will make a real virus/trojan/ or whatever pest … so PPL should become really careful with downloading profiles … not anybody can read REAL programs like yours… and they’ll get burned.Cheers, bro! Well done fixing that profile - You know that Lukrop’s profile also contains a CSharp applet (called In-Line Functions) … they can add some cool custom functions - though you’re absolutely right about safety concerns regarding everything from malware to viruses, etc. and even the contents of a file we share can be change without our intent.
For things we put up for long term distribution, we could provide a checksum in our posts for the download zip and the profile inside, with file hash info in various algorithms, just like BMS does for it’s Releases & Updates, and while it’s a bit overkill, it is one way to help assure our users of some level of validity even for some simple game voice control profiles.VoiceAttack has security options for users and profile builders - using these options we can be reasonably safe when trying out new profiles, but not everyone does that, so like you said PPL should be careful!
-By default, Imported Profiles will not run any commands set to execute every time a profile is selected when first imported.
-You mentioned the “Cancel Blocked Commands” option, but most importantly, people who want to try out many different profiles from different and possibly unknown sources should enable the option:
“Upon import, profiles will have, ‘Block potentially harmful profile actions’ selected” found under the VA Options > System / Advanced tab
This allows us to inspect a profile before any included commands are able to execute. In addition to this, if you launch VoiceAttack and hold down ‘CTRL+SHIFT’, you can access a pre-launch menu for a list of options that can help with safety or security, again, when trying out profiles from unknown sources:
I’m a bit of a security nut myself, so my own VA App “AVCS CORE” will be a one-way information only to get updates from my secure website using unique signature(s), and not send information of any kind. Sounds kinda noble when I say it like that, but I pay more per month depending on the amount of use, so basically I’d like to keep that as low as possible even with many users. I use it myself now in my Alpha tests, so I don’t want any safety concerns to my PC either!!
Just like most everyone, I hate having to be mindful of telemetry like in Windows or nVidia, and I’d sooner shoot myself than include junk like that in my profiles for VoiceAttack!! …. white hat all the way. Just wanna make cool stuff that works well, and is intuitive enough to use without melting any brains.
Anyone who likes this stuff should keep tinkering with VoiceAttack and make the cool things they like in the way they like it! It’s awesome we can make things in many different ways and have very similar results, and with different flavors comes different perks and challenges. I mean, I might be guilty of adding a little ‘bloat’ to CORE… but a simple voice calculator with up to 3 values and 2 operations was too hard to pass up since I’m writing an app anyway…

@TGW:
Good ol’ reliable (non-telemetrized) Windows 7 Pro x64
Good choice (better than win10 at least), same here
However I am having exactly the same issue with voice attack when using the alternate speech engine. Which engine are you using? Sometimes SR works perfectly, then again it can’t tell me from Adam it seems. I’ve been suspecting my headset mike not transmitting properly but it does when I check the sound settings.
All the best,
Uwe

Cheers, bro! Well done fixing that profile - You know that Lukrop’s profile also contains a CSharp applet (called In-Line Functions) …
Errrr, quilty as charged … that was mine add - BUT - It is disabled!! … what it does , … The “Edit” interface (gui) is so ****ing small on 4k monitor , my eyes hurt … that’s almost smaller size of fonts then on mobile(s).
So I was searching the ways to at least double the size of fonts in interface, and/or gui itselfI’ve found that CSharp script in VA forum … but… sadly it just controls the Main (Log) window… color of fonts, size of log window , you can see it just use window controls … BUT it doesn’t do zilch to the most important one - edit window - as there’s magic happening.
So, that “inline” is free to delete if it bothers anyone , as I’ve said it is in “disabled” section of profile . it was meant to be run “on init” … hmmm…
How well are you with those gui controls in CSharp ??? , could you pinpoint the “internal/windows/gui” name for that window and find a way to control its display fonts , moreover enlarging them maybe twice the size ???
…my eyes hurt … and don’t want to use win10 scaling … as it does “nothing” in 125% … and in 150% my whole screen becomes like GUI for “giants”.
Ha, Please ??!!
Cheers

So I was searching the ways to at least double the size of fonts in interface, and/or gui itself …I’m a C++ guy, C# looks like crazy talk to me for some reason. One reason I went the App route rather than creating a plugin or In-line functions. But, VA has 4K support now, afaik, not sure if only in current beta branch or if it’s in the full version. Heading off for now, but will check back later.

Nope… (I’m on beta 1.8.3 release of VA) , the scaling , didn’t to jack … 125% the fonts in editor look the same same, small “flees” , 3840x2160 …
He said (googled it, when searching for solution) - that he is autoscaling the fonts in regard to the Icon-text size ,… but!. I’ve enlarged windows icon-text to a size 11 , and nothing changed… so , maybe bugged/
(there is a tweak , hack, to control all windows fonts and sizes “system font changer”, for example - https://www.ghacks.net/2018/06/23/customize-font-sizes-without-scaling-in-windows-10/ )But I wonder , why just he didn’t introduce selecting font size in options … whole bunch of programs allow it (especially NPP++ , now that has nothing with VA but as an example “editor”) … there, in NPP you can select the font and size of my neighbor cat fangs
Thanks to “almighty” windows (I’ve never said this alright!! ) scaling 150% "on the fly " , so no log off , restart… I was able to “enjoy” working with editor , and not half asleep…
… I can read all that , the resolution is clear , but the tinniness just wears you , I’m tired like after half an hour of “working”.So, no C# is not required , it can be any C for inline/plugin … as a matter of fact it can be even obsolete VB … but that was a h4ck , so , if you can … by all means … pleas do h4ck it some more … my eyes will thank you , I’ll thank you , my computer thank you.
Cheers

CheersI wish I could help you with the 4K issue - I’m still on 1080p myself, loving the 144FPS standard when using Windows, and trying to get close to it in-games… But they have some very helpful and dedicated people at the VoiceAttack Discord, in the People-Helping-People channel, and I’m sure it would be worth it to have a chat some afternoon with the guys over there on the 4K topic.
As far as In-Line Functions and Plugins go – C#/VB is required for In-Line functions, and C++ or C would not work. This is painful knowledge to folks such as myself who have been known to push the request, sometimes too often. The word “moaning” was used again recently… BUT you can create a plugin with any .net framework 4.0+ .dll which means you can work with several languages, even F#. But for In-Line Functions (the applets inside a voice command actions list), ya gotta work in C#/VB
Again, this is why I went the App route, a third option for adding non-native functions to a VA profile. Since VA is a Windows program, I go for the .NET functions directly for maths, tools, and functions, so I don’t need to reinvent the wheel and can have simple one-line actions rather than long 40-line VoiceAttack command actions full of endless if/then/else statements and too many temp. variables. VoiceAttack is sortof code-blocks in a way, lets any of us use some programming style methods, or far simpler actions. But the rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper - I won’t stop till the USS Enterprise is finished and I’m blasting off for Risa

Sh… I thought that any C?? will do for applet (inline) … sorry for inconvenience.
Naah, I wont bother nobody with 4k/font issue , I’m using VA just for this one sole purpose (was using “Shoot” for looong time ago, there’s even catch how can work in modern “Win” , since it was written for Net1.0 ),
so , when this “Lukrop’s” profile is polished for Bms 4.34u2 , for me the journey is about there. So, good luck “Cpt. Picard” , live long and prosper (oh today is ep.3 to be released - don’t miss )
Cheers

so , when this “Lukrop’s” profile is polished for Bms 4.34u2 , for me the journey is about there.Really, it’s no bother - there are folks dedicated to improving VA for everyone, not gonna get a reply that is just “RTFM” They’ll provide tips as well as references to page/chapter in the manual, and if it’s a genuine issue that needs to be addressed for all 4K users, that is something they’d push at Gary to work into a future release. Gary is pretty responsive to feedback and new ideas, and the rest of the guys just try to help out those with questions so Gary can focus less on answering emails and more on developing his VoiceAttack program.
But yea, if you’re literally just scrapping to get your one profile working so you can play, I understand if you don’t want to resolve your 4K scaling issue since it will be a non-issue so soon anyway. Still, I’ve tried my best to communicate your issue to those who know more than me at VA, but again, since I don’t have a 4K monitor myself, I’m not entirely sure what the issue is. If you wanna just toss up a screenshot here, I can forward that to the guys, and be done with it
If not, no worries. Best wishes and good luck! You need any tips or advice on a thing, I’m happy to take a few minutes to have a look at something for ya - really enjoy working with VA, been pushing it’s limits since 2015 and getting pretty good at it’s quirks and such. Cheers!
