Changing radio frequencies using presets in UFC
-
I am possibly having an issue when changing radio frequencies in UFC USING PRESETS. I dobber the highlight asterisks to the preset field, and use the rocker switch to change the preset number. The frequency for that preset shows up below. I then hit the enter switch . However, when I return to the CNI DED page, it shows the preset as number 1, and not what I changed it to. What am I doing wrong? I do have the switch showing UFC on the aux comm panel.

Which ENTER key are you using? I’ve found that I need to use the ENTER key on the numerical keypad to enter a frequency change.

I think you’re misunderstanding how the comm change works, because unfortunately, the manual (BMS -1, pg 71, section 1.3.13 and 1.3.14) could be somewhat misleading if you’re new to this.
By the sounds of it, what you’re doing is you follow the procedure listed in the manual, as in: you press COM 1 (or COM 2), go up and down the preset numbers, and ENTER on your desired preset, expecting it to switch to that frequency.
All that does, however, is run you through the presets to check the frequency assigned to that particular preset, and if it is correct. It does not actually change the setting for you, as you can see in the following image:
In this image, I am currently tuned to UHF 6, looking at the preset of UHF 13, and if I were to press enter, I’d go to UHF 4, because that it in the scratch pad.
So what you need to do is press COM 1 / 2, enter the number of your desired preset in the scratchpad mid right and press ENTER. -
The easiest way to use the comms ladder presets IMO is to change the preset directly on the CNI page itself.
Using the BMS - Full.key default keybinds.
Left Arrow if not already on CNI page.
Up Arrow or Dn Arrow (dobber) until the up down rocker icon is next to the UHF preset (assuming you are stepping through UHF presets).
Then press Numpad + or Numpad - (rocker) to switch UHF preset.
Done.
Use the dobber to move rocker icon to steerpoints or VHF if you want to change those from your CNI page.

Needs entering intended preset in the scratchpad and pushing ENTER to get it to switch. -
Ah, thanks Eagle-Eye. You are correct, that is what I did. I will put the preset in the scratchpad to the right in the future, and then press enter. Thanks guys.
