WIP - Hawaii Theatre

So I was out surfing at Pyramid Rock on Thursday and I saw a pair of jets doing some touch and go’s after their mission. I saw the first one coming in and I was like, “WTF, that’s not a harrier!” I knew it was some older jet that I’ve seen in Thirdwire sims, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
Anyway, it was these guys (the Hunters, not the Kfir):
It’s been pretty interesting out here the last few weeks. There were some aggressor F-16s flying out of Hickam and I saw a pair of F/A-18F’s take off from the reef runway while I was out surfing there last Monday when I shot Tom’s video.
-
that kfir is no more, along with it’s driver unfortunately…
-
On a sidenote, I ask myself which Nation’s Hunters flew at Hawaii, probably a private owned jet pack?
-
Tom,
It was those exact jets in the picture. There’s a company called ATAC that provides adversary services for the US military. I don’t know who they were fighting against- I would guess the Raptors out of Hickam.Speaking of Raptors, on Friday I was out there surfing and these two Raptors took off. Dude, it was so cool. The lead goes into burner on takeoff. I’m thinking that’s fairly unusual- they don’t seem to go into burner on takeoff usually. So I’m looking over there watching and I see him lift off and I’m looking at his exhaust and he’s still in burner. Just as I’m thinking, “wow, he’s really staying in burner a long time…” he pulls straight up like a damn rocket and goes pure vertical I don’t even know how high- couple thousand feet at least. Then he pulls over on his back, completes his immelman and is just gone. His wingman follows him up- straight up. Just amazing.
I shot some video of them on that day I took that other video, but you can’t really see them- they’re just little specks. That camera only takes good video close up.

Yea, sounds like he was cleared by ATC for an “unrestricted” climb to 10,000. Actually its fairly common for single ship flights with no other requirements (i.e. I’ve seen it often)

I live in the wrong place.

Aloha Nui demer928, where can I get a copy of Hawaii Theater for Falcon BMS 4.32?
-
I was out at Pyramid Rock on Friday and shot some video of a P-3, C-130, Hunter, and C-17 all in one session. There was also a little business jet (C-21?) doing touch and goes, but I didn’t get any video of him. It was quite busy.
Yesterday I was at the pool on Hickam with the kids and 6 Raptors did the break and then flew right over our heads on the downwind leg in the pattern. Too cool. That is such a good-looking jet.

Did it have tip tanks?

The business jet? No…
I found it- it was this guy from Hickam (C-37A):

Aloha demer928, I am wondering if I could get a copy of this Hawaii Theater from from you please?..…
Thanks,

Aloha Ram22, that’s fine can I get a copy of that theater?

Any update on this project? 3-4 Falcon weeks maybe?

Currently the project, on my end, is suspended.
Due mostly to the Tile Limit in Falcon BMS.There is also a noticeable FPS hit when using PhotoReal image’s for the tile’s.Maybe some Falcon day???

That´s pitty, but maybe also typical for alot of fail-falcon projects. Started with enthusiasm and broke before ever completed …
The attempt counts young man … and maybe one day ?
-
You mean thinking outside the box and Falcon slams you right back into the box ?

So Rimpac is getting ready to kick off and the jets have been going crazy at Hickam lately.
I was out yesterday and saw two interesting things. First, a flight of F-22s took off, presumably to tangle with a pair of F-15s that had taken off earlier (along with a KC-135). I was paddling in as the F-22s returned. As usual the flew the break upwind abreast of one another, broke left at the same time. However, lead must have intentionally or inadvertently hit his thrust vectoring or something. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. He rolled into a 90 degree’ish bank like normal, passed crosswind, and then the jet just…pivoted…for lack of a better word, almost right in place. It was extremely unusual, he just did 90 degrees of turn practically in-place it seemed like. Now dash-2 is following lead but does his turn like normal. He levels out crosswind, then banks again and levels out downwind (like normal), and then banks back towards the runway to correct his line up on lead since lead cut so much off his turn. I thought maybe I imagined lead’s turn, but when I saw two have to correct I knew I had seen something unusual. Quite cool.
Second, like I said, the F-15s took off before the F-22s. They were out for my whole 2-hour session, so they must have gassed up at some point as they usually only stay out an hour. Anyway, I’ve noticed that when the F-16s or F-15s come out here to play with the F-22s they carry external tanks (obviously) for the trip out, but they also seem to always keep the tanks on when they go out to scrimmage. I would think that degrades their performance significantly. I wonder why they don’t unload the externals while they’re here and then put them back on for their trip back to the mainland? I can only guess that they’re worried that if they take the externals off, they might get a malfunction when they reattach them that causes them not to work properly, so you’d have to fly a team out to fix the jet at that point. Or maybe they’re only running intercepts and don’t need the extra maneuverability. Or maybe carrying empty externals is no big deal, but I find that unlikely.
Well, that’s it I guess.

I’ll be passing through PHIK next week, staying a day before heading on…

WOW, its a seriously small world….you just helped me get BMS working…
We have some thing in common that only the two of us out of the entire world can say…BTW, I’ve used this handle since F4’s original release, care to take a guess what my claim to fame is?
