Possible 3-monitor config?
-
I got two 19" monitors with a res of 1280x1024 and on 24" monitor of 1920x1080. Is it possible to display Falcon as a triple-screen setup without having to Eyefinity-group the 3 monitors? I was hoping to use the two 19" as peripheral monitors on portrait mode, but Eyefinity group turns them back to landscape.
Thanks!

Try creating 3 desktops.
-
Sorry, can you be more specific?
Here are examples of monitor layouts I want to achieve…
Or…
As 3 desktops, they are fine, but Falcon only shows on one window. As an Eyefinity group, Falcon shows up on all 3, but is weird and severely constricted. Is it possible to even widen the FOV?

Hello Ice,
yes it´s possible without eyefinity !! I can run BMS with in the left a 22" in the middle 30" and right 22"
Get a look here!

I run three 24" monitors as an Eyefinity group – 1920x1200 set up side by side each in portrait orientation. At the edges the view field is quite distorted especially if I set the FOV to wider than say 80 to 100 degrees but it’s quite usable and FPS is more than sufficient. I did also try the same monitors in landscape mode. This didn’t work so well for me preferences…too much letter boxing on the display aspect ratio for use as a tactical view port. Anyway, point being it can be done this way but expect that the projection won’t be perfect at the edges…stretching the view this way will look weird at the margins…this is a limitation of the way the game’s graphics engine works […and won’t change anytime soon].

So it is do-able! I have hope! Thanks for the help sirs! Now off to experiment some more…
(and find a replacement monitor for my son!)

Hex editor help –-- I’ve found the Hex value for my desired resolution (4480 = 1180, 1080 = 0438) but I have absolutely no idea how to input it on the hex editor. The fact that it isn’t even in English (hex editor program) makes matters worse! I found a free English hex editor here, and see the 3C address, but still at a loss as to the next step to take… any help?
Thanks!

Arty, I got an Eyefinity card, so I now have 3 screens all working. It is getting Falcon to display things properly that is the problem.
-
Get me on Skype and I’ll help you. Check pm.
-
For example : 2560/1600 in X field 00 0A and in Y field 40 06
Get it from my linked site hex to dez…
keep the changed dx9display.dsp saved as a diferent name or 2.nd place, because always when you go into setup in BMS it will be override…
-
I am able to convert the resolution to hex numbers, and I can open the .dsp file, but I do not know how to edit the .dsp file via hex editor to get the values I want.
-
did you see my pic in last post? set your hex X res in the red X field and your hex Y res in the red Y field. Save it and replace it with the original in config folder…
Or give me your preferred resolution and yor dsp file, and i send you the chanced dsp.
here a testrun last days with a 22", 30", 19"

Thanks, I figured it out. Was a bit confused with the hex editor. I’ve set it up now, but the problem is it is not centered.
I have my center screen as my main screen (leftmost screen is -1280,0), when I start up BMS the UI appears on the upper left of the center screen. When in 3D view, the view starts only at the center screen, extends to the right screen, and disappears. There is no image on the left screen. I exit, make the left screen my main screen (leftmost screen is 0,0), and now the launch window appears on the left screen but the UI is still on the center screen, and the 3D still starts on the center screen. When I make the center screen my main screen again (leftmost screen is -1280,0), the launch window is in the center screen but the UI is now between the center screen and the right screen. The 3D view now starts on the right 2/3rds of the center screen, extending to the right screen…. the left screen and the left 1/3rd of my center screen is now blank.
What’s going on here??
EDIT: I am flying with window mode on. With it off, my BMS crashes as soon as I enter 3D.

you can let your center screen as main screen!
open bms lancher/Cockpit Display Extraction/Main and set in your case Left -1280, Top 0
This will switch your UI Screen to your left screen, and in flight all screens will be used…. -
DOH!! I’ve been messing with this for the past hour or so trying to figure it out. Thank you sir!

you`r welcome

Hi guys,
Can this be done with a Nvida Card?
thanks in advance
-
Depends on the card, I think… you have to get the new 6XX series or have two cards or buy TripleHead2Go. Aside from the newest lineup of nVidia, AMD cards are the only ones that can triple-screen with one card. So it is possible with your 2xGTX580s but as to how, I’ll let the others chime in as I have no experience with nVidia cards.

Experiences described so far suggest the answer is: yes, but frame rate is going to suck.
For whatever reason, NV drivers are well behind ATI in performance terms for this multi display head kind of scenario. I gave up and switched to ATI…much happier now.
