No bomb craters anymore in BMS 4.35
-
Hello
I noticed BMS 4.35 has no bomb craters on the runway or else where on the ground, no matter how many bombs I dropped on enemy runways in OCA strike, the runways look like “new build” ones. Anybody know how to correct it manually, or it is a bug? thankyou!

it works fine here, and onestly looks like bigger than previous falcon versions.
how do you set the BA before dropping? -
Perhaps it is a distance problem, at other versions, craters are visible up to a certain distance and dissapears passing that threshold

I let many AI aircraft (F-15E) do OCA strike on Haeju runway, even they drop several bombs hit the runway and I view the hits at very close distance, just 200 feets from the hit but actually there is no any crater on the runway!!!

how do you set the BA before dropping?Oh now I know why, on the runway, the craters just last about 6-7 seconds then disappear! they are supposed to stay there on the runway until I end the mission. Do you know any setting to keep them last longer?

if that’s true, yes that’s odd and should not be -

Yeah, all craters only last 5-7 seconds on ground or on the runway, is it a bug or just something wrong with mine?

I’ve noticed in 4.35 that, less than a minute after a successful BLU-109 strike on runways, OPFOR Migs still take off, as if there was no damage (mission debrief confirms multiple runway sections were destroyed). I noted it as a probable bug in repair times and moved on. Would be nice if it’s a bug and can be fixed, though. I’m happy to submit mission files, etc., if it helps…

If you have a reproducible case feel free to submit the info to the public bms bugtracker:

thanks in advance & all the best,
Uwe

Will do, hoover. Though “reproducible” entails hitting TOT, successful weapons targeting, and (probably) setting reagg/deagg time to about 20 minutes (so Migs are on the airbase when you arrive). Nonetheless, my TE and bug report may be helpful. Will submit it tomorrow, likely… (Totally behind the bug tracker; great initiative by Blu3wolf to consolidate that info.) Thanks!

Mine has the exact same issue too. Please report the crater quick disappearance bug and runway immortal bug, thank you

how do you set the BA before dropping?I tested and found the bomb craters by dump bombs such as MK-84, BLU-109 are all OK, bomb craters cause by Laser bombs and JDAMS bombs all disappear after 7-20 seconds, is there a chance to correct the issue in the Editor?

Can’t reproduce at least not for AP GBU such as GBU-31(v)3/B /AP, GBU-24/A/B /AP and GBU27/B /AP craters persist even after going 20 miles off target and come back after serveral minutes

Thanks for letting me know so I can try to do something…I changed graphic setting AA from sample 8 to sample 1 and did not use the satellite view button (
) to view craters on the runways so they all appear very nice through the cockpit. Craters still just last for 10-20 seconds then all disappear in satellite view (
) but that’s OK for me. BMS 4.35 has very nice ground tiles and naval strike performance, really love it! -
@luan_vn From cockpit view they last longer?
-
My idea would be to create a simple KTO TE, bomb a red airbase with various weapons and then trying to land on it.
So have we already verified that GBUs work fine?
Cheers, Uwe

OK will test today then let you know the result?

I tested and below is the result:
-Bomb craters can be seen very well from cockpit view. My plane get exploded at landing after it hits a crater on the runway. Mission report log also confirms the runway is destroyed.
-Bomb craters by dumb boms (MK-84, BLU-107) and GPU/ laser bombs (GPU-31, GPU-24/27) all disappeared after 5-10 second in ALL EXTERNAL VIEWS (`,6, 7, 8, 9, 0, shift 7 keys). When I jump back in my cockpit, I can see them all appear again within a distance of about 7000-8000 ft.
So I think it is the issue with all the External View functions -
Using BLU 107’s - and from the cockpit view the craters disappear at a distance of 5 to 6 nm and then reappear once you get back within that range.
Not sure if this is the correct bubble size for such objects as craters?
Does anyone know ?
