Lock IVC to specific sound device
-
Losing my rag with Windows 10 messing with my devices.
Is there a way to lock IVC to a specific audio/microphone device.
I have already disabled device exclusivity in Windows 10.
Thanks in advance

There’s a possibilty if you “override” the sound settings in the ivc client once IVC is running (I don’t recall the exact name, a checkbox or something with “enable local override” or similar).
This will allow you to select your microphone and ouput device to your liking.
All the best,
Uwe

It force local control checkbox which enables selection of sound devices. And after untick reconnect automatically to the server again

Edit IVC Client.ini the "playback = " park. Remember you have to spell the name of the audio device exactly, every comma, capital letter, parenthesis, etc.
Example:
playback = “6 - ASUS PB238 (AMD High Definition Audio Device)”Then it will default to this device automatically every time IVC is started without any more hassle.

Where do you get the correct name from to use? Thanks

I found this to be a helpful article as a lot of people seem to have issues like you describe.

It’s as listed in IVC but often the name is longer than the space provided so you’ll recognize it when you see it in other parts of Windows but you can’t find it from IVC completely. In Win10 if you right click the volume icon in system tray, Open Sound Settings, Choose your output device. Also the “Manage sound devices” link there lists all of the output names. Exactly as it’s spelled there. It’s also the same name in the left-click volume icon pop up quick change menu.
