Resolution problem
-
I am new here and have a problem which I also put in the general forum.
got a message there: to feel free going the technical support.
I have a problem under the setting by grafics.
the first line I can choose: window, borderless or full screen
the next is output which shows me first one line 2540x1440
while the resolution line below this one, let me choose 3840x2160 which is my native.so I deleted everything and started from scratch and then the output line was the same as my resolution.
But when I started the game again there was suddenly in the output 1024 x etc.
so I dont understand it anymore what is going wrong
Any of you who can help me out? -
Weird, it sounds like it thinks your monitor is 1440p. But your graphics card is sending it a 4k signal.
Can you run the following command (hit [Window+R] key then carefully copy/paste this command into it)… it will take 10-15 seconds. Then let us know what it says for “Current Mode” and “Native Mode” (roughly around lines 62 to 72).
cmd /c start /wait dxdiag.exe /t "%temp%\dxdiag.txt" & notepad "%temp%\dxdiag.txt"
-
current is says 3840x2160(32bit)60hz
native is 3840x2160§ 60hzwhat I discovered is: switching to full screen (by alt enter) set the output on 1024x768 automatically.
switch in the grafics to borderless does do the settings change to 3840x2160 automatically.
but I can not do anything then in the small sized block . so I have to go out and start again, the setup is then available again in a small way but touchable and the setting is still 3840x2160.
obviously there is a strange behave in the output grafic.
following advice via nvidia settings did not help to get a better size, only with alt enter but as said before the output will switch back to 1024x768. -
I’ve seen and heard a lot of different graphical problems but this is a new one… not sure what to look at next. Got latest NVidia drivers?
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
Just trying to cover the basics.
If you want, you can copy/paste the first 100 lines or so, from that dxdiag report, into this thread. I’ll take a look and see if any new ideas occur to me.

switching to full screen (by alt enter) set the output on 1024x768 automatically.
Oh wait … maybe I misunderstood. Are you talking about the 2D menu screen? Yes, that is a hardcoded 1024x768 user interface.
Once you click ‘take-off’ and are in the cockpit (3D) …after the various interstitial loading screens etc … it should revert back to 4k (3840x2160)… no?
If you want to prevent your monitor from flickering back and forth to different modes… I recommend changing the default NVidia settings for how to deal with fullscreen apps that try to change resolution.
The 2D menu UI is still a crappy low-rez experience from 20 years ago, but it will be up-scaled to 4k by your GPU and so your monitor will only ever receive a 4k signal
See my screenshot…

Perform scaling on => GPU
Override scaling mode set by games => ON -
For the avoidance of doubt, here is a screenshot of my Falcon BMS graphics-setup screen. (Yellow highlights to call out the misleading entries that say “1024x768” but also somehow “3440x1440” … which I fear may be causing confusion.)
But I configured my nvidia settings as above, to “do the scaling on the gpu” so my monitor never leaves 3440x1440 mode. My graphics card takes the 20-year-old 2D menu screen and upscales it.
The actual 3D in-plane experience is rendered in full 3440x1440 glory. Ok not as glorious as your 4k but only because my wife won’t let me hook the PC up to the tv.

I already have changed it according your previous suggestions so if I understand you correctly, I can use (alt enter) to fullscreen and what is mentioned in the output is not interesting to watch at.
the monitor will show the right resolution.
Rest me to thank you a lot for supporting me.
see you hopefully in the next roundb.t.w do you use nvidia inspector or nvidia controller.

i want to send you a screenshot made it in jpeg and png but during upload got the message upload or file failed. do you have an idea what it could be?
-
Is BMS using your iGPU? And I would turn scaling for the 2D off until you get the correct resolution.
-
it uses my 1080TI where do I have to put off scaling? and how do i get the right resolution if fullscreen brings the resolution down as you could read in previous remaks

I think this forum/webserver has difficulty with attachments / images. Not sure… So I’ve just been using imgur.com which is free and fairly painless.

b.t.w do you use nvidia inspector or nvidia controller.
Currently I run MSI Afterburner to keep track of things like CPU/GPU temperatures and usage%. (Works great, even if your card is not MSI brand.)
I’ve played with NVidia Profile Inspector a bit … mostly when I was trying to understand some of the confusing settings in NVidia Control Panel. (Like the difference between Low Latency Mode “on” and “Ultra”. Not sure I ever found a great answer on that.)

looks this image bright and normal according what you have seen sofar with you friends

Scaling can be adjusted by going to Nvidia CP then go to adjust desktop size and position.
The right resolution for most people is the native resolution of their monitor. Do you want the right resolution to be the native resolution of your monitor or something else?

I am having that same issue with 4.35 U1. When selecting Fullscreen from the graphics menu, the Output line says (sometimes says) 1024x768 but the Resolution line says 11520x2160. The Output jumps between the 1024x768 and 5760x1080 after hitting Apply. In the game, the resolution doesn’t quite look like what I typically see in 4.34 U1 in terms of 4k type graphics(everything is larger). The left shoulder of the pilot also blocks ability to see the exterior lighting panel switches.
However, if I select Borderless, the Output jumps to the 11520x2160 and matches the correct Resolution. However, that causes the menus to shrink down very small and off to the leftmost side of my three monitors. In 4.34 U1, this does not happen(but of course, it doesn’t have that Output line in the UI). The menus are full screen and on the center monitor, no obstruction of the lighting panel, world appears 4k. In game 3d world looks ok. When switching from Borderless back to Fullscreen, the Output con tinues to match the 11520x2160 Resolution until going into 3d and returning to UI graphics screen.
Also, I noticed that I can no longer set quality levels in the graphics UI. They are stuck at 0. I used to be able to go up to 3 in 4.34 U1.
I am running MSI RTX3070 with NVIDIA driver version 461.81 at 11520x2160 resolution.

If you mean, it looks dim, I think your sun-visor is down. Hit [alt+V] (or is it [shift+V] ?) to toggle the visor.

@TheSilkMan – I can’t get your attachment to open. There is some secret to embedding images in posts on this forum… I see some are able to do it… but I don’t know it.

I will try again:

I will try again:
Nope
From the “advanced” edit view, I was able to click “insert image” (below the ‘attachment’ menu button) and get it to upload a png from my computer.
Not sure what formats it supports, or if there are size limitations … in your case if you’re screenshotting 3x 4k that might be a consideration!
