Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)

Sorry, if this has already be pointed out, but with BMS 4.35 some SAM units are mislabelled in TacView (e.g. SA-9, SA-15. I.e. SA-9 is shown as SA-3)
Or is there already something I can do to fix it on my side?
Thanks. -
Tacview Object properties is compiled into the exe but you can create your own xml File for misspelled object as described on the documentation

Thanks.I thought I had fixed this in the most recent Tacview: https://www.tacview.net/download/latest/en/ . Please make sure you are using the most recent version. If that doesn’t help can you please share your VHS file? EDIT and let me know what theatre and theatre version?

so some bug facts:
4.35.1 Korea KTO
TacView 1.8.6
vhs tape is rather big (campaign), so it got uploaded here
https://ufile.io/gquem9p6Unit in question is destroyed at 11:44:41. There is another SA-9 at 39.16258, 127.49435
The observation I made is that the unit is actually recognized as SA-9 (Name field. But 9K31 instead of SA-9 Gaskin). But only when selecting “Edit object…” in the context menu. If I just select it with CTRL LMB, then it says SA-3 Goa (LN) on the top left and the label in 3D is SA-3.
I kinda have the impression, that the same ID is shared between the SA-3 launcher and the SA-9…Thanks for looking into it.
Cheers

I kinda have the impression, that the same ID is shared between the SA-3 launcher and the SA-9…I see that the SA-9 is appearing as as SA-3 due to an omission in our database. I corrected it already so it will be included in the next update. Are there any other mislabeled units? Thanks for your detailed report!

Hi BuzzyBee
yes, there seems to be a mismatch with the AA-7 (R-23) and the R-3. The launched R-23R is indicated as R-3R.
TacView 1.8.6 in Korea 4.35.1 Vanilla
Can you have a look? If needed I can send you the vhs file via PM. Let me know!

… Are there any other mislabeled units? …
Actually, yes. I did some testing this evening and the following list is an intermediate result:
Chinese –- HQ - BMP-1KSh
SA-15 -> label SA-5 (Gammon LN)
KrAz F 255B -> label T-55 (<- here I am actually unsure, as this would be the only ‘F’ type KrAz that is mislabled)Chinese — SA-2
SA-2 LN -> label SA-7 (Grail)
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55Russia — SA-5
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55Russia — SA-3
SA-3 LN -> SA-5
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55Russia — SA-10
SA-10 LN -> SA-3 (Goa LN)
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55Russia — SA-11
SA-11 LN -> SA-7 (Grail)
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55Russia — SA-8
KrAz T 255B -> label T-55SA-17 ok
SA-7 ok
SA-13 ok
SA-14 okIf you need the .vhs files for it, just let me know and I’ll upload them to a file hoster. (I kept them small this time…)
Thanks for looking into it.

https://ufile.io/xg6bdz0lI think I fixed all that in the beta I just published. Let me know if there are any remaining issues: https://tacview.net/download/beta/

I seem to have lost the ability to move the 3d view around… used to be right mouse button, but now that’s zooming me into the view? Panning also still works fine. I’ve tried the latest beta from today (1.8.7 b2). Any ideas what could be causing this?
thanks & all the best,
Uwe

Hi, the controls are intended to be used as follows: Right Mouse + Drag to zoom in and out. Left Mouse + Drag to rotate around.
Also play around with the options External View (f6), Satellite View (F7) and Free Camera (F8 ) to find the one you like. Sometimes they get reset with new versions.

I checked the beta, and all issues posted in #654 are fixed. However, the SA-9 issue first described in #650 still seems to be there. You can cross-check with SA-8.vhs (if you still have it) that has two SA-8 SHORADS and one SA-9 SHORAD.
Hi,
The SA-9’s in SA-8.vhs seem to be labelled correctly for me in the 1.8.7 beta 2. Can you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing that doesn’t seem right?
(Please include the entire Tacview window like my screenshot) -
Hi, here is the screenshot. The Raw Telemetry shows as name SA-9.
Thanks again for checking thisCheers
[edit: sorry, not fluent in attachments…]
