Any way to alt tab while in 3d in order to play music on youtube while flying? I use to be able to do that with 4.34, but now it will not work. I play 4k full screen on win 10 on a 50 inch Sony tv. Geforce 2080 ti card. Borderless window acts really weird, and just put the screen in the top right corner. I also tried using the windows button, but that also caused the game to freeze. Any ideas?

You can even use the pilot entertainment system which allows you to play music through winamp without having to leave BMS and can operate it through the DED

Your sure you are running in borderless windowed and not fullscreen. I personally have no issue in 4.35 to alt tab out of borderless. But if you have trouble in 4.35 to alt tab out of borderless you can use now Ctrl + Enter to switch to windowd mode with border and minimize BMs in that way. BTW Alt + Enter switches between Fullscreen and either borderless or windowed (whatever was set last)

Hmm… do you have your OS desktop set to 4k (3840x2160)? Or is it, eg. 1080p being upscaled by your tv/monitor.
Borderless-fullscreen should always work flawlessly with [alt+tab]… and [windows] key etc. The DWM (Desktop Window Manager) owns the front-buffer and controls the resolution. Just like for every other windows app.
You’ll probably get a little better performance running in fullscreen-exclusive mode, at 4k resolution, tho… only way to get best of both worlds is to hit [alt+enter] to toggle out of fullscreen-exclusive mode, before hitting [alt+tab].
If you forget which mode you’re in, if your kbd has volume up/down/mute buttons you can hit those… if you see the volume overlay appear, you’re in DWM borderless-window mode and can safely alt+tab. If you don’t see the overlay, you’re in fullscreen-exclusive mode.

Sorry that is has been awhile. Thank you for your suggestions. My desk top is native at 4k. Before, when everything worked, I was running the desktop native at 1920 X 1080p. because I did not have the right hdmi cable, and I was not hooked up to the correct hdmi slot on the tv.
What is weird, is that the game in no longer in full screen in 2d. I have tried everything I can think of, with some help from Ghastly. I tried each scaling option for the Nvidia Geforce 2080 ti card. I tried going back to 1920 X 1080 (though this is no longer the native resolution.) I tried changing the text size from 200% back to 100 %. I tried disabling full screen optimization. Same result every time, in 2d the game appears in the middle of the screen, but only takes up a part of the screen on my 55 inch tv.
Any other suggestions guys? I’m stumped.
I am going to try the alt enter suggestion, but I would hate to be in a multiplayer game, forget to hit alt enter, and hit alt tab and freeze up the game forcing a restart of my computer. There is already so much to remember to do in a multiplayer session, I know that I will forget to hit alt enter from time to time!
Update, for some reason the game is now in full screen in 2d, so that is good, but it still stops working when I alt tab. If I hit alt enter, the game moves to the lower left corner and gets very tiny, and I then need to alt tab to get to task manager and close the program.

Those nvidia scaling-options are definitely weird and clunky. Not sure I can explain how any of it works… esp. the intersection with the gpu-texture-scaling option in the 3D settings.
But yeah, so far as I can tell, when running in a window/borderless mode your 2D is always going to be a tiny box. (Even on my 1440p system it’s a bit of a problem.) I like to do alt+enter to make my 2D experience fullscreen-exclusive, but then I alt+enter back to windowed-borderless before going into 3D… so I can safely alt+tab and see other overlays, while in flight.
Sorry, not much help.
It is worth giving 1080p an honest try. Because it’s exactly 1:4 scale, most 4k tvs will do a good job interpolating pixels, producing a nicer looking image than you normally expect. And better framerate / lower latency. And smart-scaling will work better (I think? not sure about that).
But of course if you use this PC for normal purposes too, then you probably want desktop to be in 4k. No easy win.

So far , in 4.35U1 , alt + tab and alt + enter are working flawlessly , 99% . I am also on 4k native desktop , but 3D running in fullHD (1/4) in fullscreen .
What you need to do , you need to DISABLE “borderless” for a moment , start BMS windowed , adjust position of 2D window somewhere near the top-left , as seems fit….
Borderless/windowed doesen’t have any impact if you run fullscreen in 3D . hehCant say for Nvidia scaling… (as I’m AMD) , here HW(gpu) scaling works , center/…stretch , but then 2D 1024x768 gets in 16:9 … and all circles deform, not best solution, but if you can live with it…
So, don’t be afraid to use alt+enter anymore … yes alt+tab can cause problems when switching from 3D fullscreen … crash , but if you alt+enter before (exit fullscreen) then it works just fine.
Try it, Cheers
