Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)

Dear BuzyBee, for that lazy guy like I am… wouldn’t you mind to add also some other theaters, if your time and will allow of course?
I’m interested in Balkans, Kuwait and Nevada, in particular.
And in spite of your clear instructions and examples, I haven’t been able to do anything yet… clear sign that I’m not good at it at all, or I don’t have such skills. Sorry. With many thanks in advance and best regards.
Hi,
Balkans should be available in Tacview 1.8.6 (the current stable version) and Kuwait should be available in Tacview 1.8.7 beta 5 (the current beta). Let me know if there is something wrong with either of them, it is possible they need to be updated. Please share a VHS file if there’s any issue.
I will add Nevada to my to-do list
-
I’m so lazy in all, but not in thanking you for your kind attention and your time so much, dear BuzyBee.
I’ll do what you have suggested to now, and in case I’ll let you know more further.
(P.S.: just for precision’s sake, and if I’m correct here only, in current, i.e last updated, TacView beta, Balkans is still in 4.34 version and Kuwait is referred to its 64 segment version, whether I would be interested in its -128 too.)With best regards.

Thanks:D

I used to be able to tilt the tacview map. Now I can’t. How can I re-establish the ability to tilt the map?

Hello BuzyBee,
it is great to see our favorite software always moving forward and updating.
Do you have any news about the REAL-TIME TELEMETRY feature for BMS, that we wait for it so impatiently?
Any news? Any plans?
Thanks! -
I’m with Atsalis (very well said, mate BTW).
If introduced, I’d consider to upgrade seriously.
With best regards.

The technical issue is still the same with BMS only having an Real time interface for ownship data and the only readable interface for anything around would be ACMI recording data requiring the user to record in order to have access.
The only other way like for example is done with F4radar is to dig into to BMS executable process and memory. But as there is no documentation on that it’s a very tedious process to grab and get the relevant data and you might have to start over with every BMS update.
As long as BMS Devs won’t provide a documented interface like shared mem for own ship dataGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk

Hi, maybe you are in Satellite View (F7). Try switching External View (F6) or Free Camera (F8 ).

Sharp and precise, most of all, as your usual though.
With best regards.

Yeah, I was in Satellite View (F7). Thanks for the quick response.

So if I get it right, there are two options, both in theory only,
a) to get the data from the ACMI recorder,
b) or to have some exe work from the developers to provide this data in an easy way, for TacView to communicate with BMS.
I remember someone was working on the (a) option, does anybody knows anything about it?
And, do we know if the Dev team is aware of this request and if they are interested to get their hands on it?

Thanks for pointing this out. I will definitely update Balkans for 4.35 and I have to figure out how to incorporate the 128 segment version of the Kuwait theatre. I might add it as a different theatre under the name MidEast. I will let you know.

Hi,
In the latest beta I added Nevada, MidEast 128, and updated Balkans:
MidEast 128 conflicts with other theatres so in order to activate it please do the following:
Copy the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Tacview (beta)\Data\Xml\Data-Falcon4Theaters.xml to *%PROGRAMDATA%\Tacview\Data\Xml*
In the file Data-Falcon4Theaters.xml which is now in your Program Data folder, find Kuwait theater and set <visible>0</visible>. Find Israel theater and set <visible>0</visible>. Find MidEast128 theater and set <visible>1</visible>. Now the MidEast128 theater is activated and the two conflicting theaters are deactivated. This applies to the elevation map only - all the texture maps are visible regardless.
Sorry it’s a bit complicated. We are working on making everything easier in Tacview 2.0.

“Deeply sorry for answering late” is the only matter I’m going to write before "Thanks a lot for your usual attention!", dear BuzyBee.
With best regards.

This post is about codecs for Tacview.
My video recorder, Bandicam, uses the codec named “HEVC-NVIDIA NVENC(VBR)” to produce videos.
When I try to insert a video into Tacview from Tacview’s drop down menu item “Media 1”, I get this:When I click the link to install a codec pack, I get this:
If install this codec, will it replace the codec I already use for Bandicam?
Or will Tacview use its recommended codec and leave the other codec available for my Bandicam video recorder?Edit:
I downloaded the K-Lite codec pack and installed it. Used it in Tacview. It is OK in Tacview. Has not had any adverse effects on my Bandicam. -
HI All,
Anyone has the correct xml entry in order to add Kuwait 64 theater? Thanks a lot.

Kuwait 64 theatre is included in Tacview 1.8.7 which is currently available as a beta: https://tacview.net/download/beta/
This is the declaration used.
<theater id="Kuwait"><terrain>Data/Terrain/Falcon 4.0/Kuwait Falcon 4.0 Terrain.dat</terrain> <database>Data/Database/Falcon 4.0/Kuwait Falcon 4.0 Database.dat</database> <lod>2</lod> <west>42.000000</west> <east>52.447291</east> <south>25.097612</south> <north>34.339213</north> <visible>1</visible> <timezone>+0</timezone></theater>
TimeZone is +0 because the time being exported by the theatre seems to be correct as it is and no offset is required.
