F-15 Eagle Flameout Problems
-
Hello Everyone!
I was wondering if any of you have experienced problems with unexplainable engine failures. Have any of you had your fine Boeing product at 25,000 feet and attempt a nose over only to find your steed stumbling? This is extremely frustrating when approaching a target and all the bad guys are around. Can anyone help a frustrated Eagle Driver Wannabe?

I haven’t had any particular stalling issues with the F-18C (the only Boeing product I currently trust), but I’m curious about the “attempt a nose over”. Are you actually pushing your stick forward?? (If so, stop it! Standard practice is rolling on your back and pulling positive G)… or is this just a metaphor and you are rolling inverted, pulling back on the stick and your plane is stalling/tumbling out of its envelope??
Also, what is your Calibrated airspeed (CAS) when you perform this maneuver??

…I’ve actually ridden a RL Hornet through a very pronounced stick push forward from +40 AOA at 17K MSL…worked very nicely and smoothly with no issues. Dunno about Eagles, but I would think the same should hold.
In smaller excursions this is known as a “bunt”, and for dive angles of anywhere from ~5 to maybe 15 degrees RL pilots bunt all the time.

CLARIFICATION: Bunts & Stall recovery excluded. Yes, pushing the stick forward is warranted for bunts & stall recoveries. But for maneuvering, such as while dogfight or defensive engagements, pushing the stick forward is not a good option.

…in the Super Hornet, there is a move called the “hyber maneuver” which specifically calls for pushing the stick forward…in a dogfight.
I happen to know the guy that discovered it personally…

Stupid question yes.

Hello, Jolly!!
I am not moving very fast. Just 300 to 400 knots. Thanks for the advice on maintaining positive G by rolling over and screaming towards mother earth!

Anytime Tom! :thumb:

Hey Jolly!
My favorite is the F-4. Love the ramp start on that monster! I cannot get the Comms to come up so that I can talk to Tower or anybody else. Can you help?
