Avionic issue
-
Hi All
I had this problem ONLY starting a few days ago.
When i was cruising in NAV mode, the avionics would automatically “CMS left”, pumping chaff and “DMS left”, switching the left MFD to test page while SOI changes to right MFD.
I have no idea how did this issue happen.
I’ve checked all the setting, flight stick CMS DMS setting are absolutely normal.
I recalibrated the flight stick just to make sure everything is good.
Checked the BMS setting of CMS & DMS - all normal as well.
Have absolutely no idea why this problem started few days ago while it had been always normal but all of a sudden became like this.
When i CMS left & DMS down manually, i could get the left MFD back to FCR and SOI back to left MFD.
But after maybe a minute or two, or sometimes it seems in random pattern, it would automatically jump to test page with SOI moved to the right MFD again.
Pumping chaff will not necessarily happen at the same time, but would happen in a random pattern.
Has anyone experienced this issue before?Kind regards

Honestly never heard of this happening. Is it safe to assume you have a Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar?? If not, what is your stick & throttle set up? And what keyfile are you using?? And what mode do you have CMDS in??

Have you plugged any new USB devices into your system of late? I’ve had things like this happen due to key collisions, and it sounds like that but of a slightly differing flavor. You can try unplugging all USB devices and then plugging them in one at a time until it happens again as a check.
The offender in my system was the toe brakes.

Well…
I guess the only change to USB was few days ago I bought a new printer and when I was setting the printer up I unplugged the cougar throttle usb.
After I re-plug the cougar throttle usb this problem started to happen.
I do a detail observation today again and found out that this automatic “DMS left” and “CMS left” would be triggered the moment I pull back my throttle to idle.
When I push up my throttle and pull back to idle again this problem happens.
If I keep my throttle without touching the idle detent, this problem would then not appear.
Seems like it’s kind of linked to throttle idle setting.
Maybe some kind of key collision? -
Interesting that a pot seems to be involved just like with the toe brakes on my system. Might also want to try unplugging the new printer and see if that changed anything, and then maybe plugging it into a different USB port?

Are you running any TARGET or Foxy scripts that might be triggering key-presses? Or maybe some “hotkey macro” scripting software like antimicro? Sounds like the key-presses are triggered somehow.

If you have hotas bindings for CMS, DMS, etc … you could try removing the keybd bindings for those callbacks, and see if that narrows down the source of the problem.
Or vice versa … remove / comment-out the hotas bindings, and fly using keybd for CMS and DMS for a while. (Maybe a loose wire or some dust in your stick?)

I didn’t notice it in your previous posts but did you re-flash your joystick firmware at all?? Perhaps give that a try, then re-calibrate.
