X52/X52pro Pinky DX Shift dual function
-
I have confirmed an issue with both my pro and non-pro X52 while using the default X52 profiles / key binding files bundled with 4.35u2. All axis and buttons appear to work fine in both shifted and un-shifted states. The issue I’m having is with the pinky switch and how it’s used to cycle thru the various zoom states of the active MFD. A simple press/release of the pinky switch should cycle the zoom level. However, the only way this works for either of my sticks is through a “hard flicking” of the pinky key. A casual press release does not work even though the windows joystick control panel shows the switch actuating quite easily this way. Any ideas why I have to use so much force to get the zoom function to cycle? As it’s occurring with two different X52, I’m discounting a hardware problem at this point.
Thank you,

It is quite a small window of detection between ‘long press’ and ‘short press’, and it’s not stick related (I’ve got X52 Pro and non-pro as well). If there is a setting hidden in some config to increase this time, I’m not aware of it - would be great if someone here knew if this even exists (in a way that end users can change).
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve also gotta be extremely brief when short pressing for MFD zoom

So I hadn’t tried a very brief pull on the switch. I found pressing the key and sliding my pinky finger off the side edge to force a flick action to work. So your reasoning is that its confusing the action as a long press vs a short press. I’ll have to try your method and see if I can get that to toggle the zoom. Yes, it would be nice to know if the timing could be changed. I wonder if setting a delay in SST would improve things

It’s
set g_nHotasShiftQuickPressTimeLimit n
Default is 200 ms
BMS Tech manual 10-95
The maximum pinky tapping time in milliseconds that is used to determine whether the pinky button should
execute EXPAND or act as shift button can be configured within the falconbms.cfg file -
Thanks Oak for the great info! I’ll check the manual reference now.

Just set the value to 400 ms in the BMS cfg and tested. Now works perfectly for me! Thanks again Oakdesign.
