Solved Idle Detent key stroke and hotspot not working (Alt + i) - U3
-
What is your throttle control mapped to … keyboard? mousewheel? one of the gamepad axes?
-
Hi @airtex2019, the throttle axis is mapped to mousewheel, the idle detent is default to keyboard, and i tried to click the hotspot which i use sometimes and it did nothing.
Just one more thing I noticed in a test i just did in training ground ops and landing mission, this only happens when you start in your cold jet, if you start in taxiway or runway the hotspot and keyboard works as its supposed to. -
@waltherppk make sure Idle cutoff is NOT ticked in the Configurator if you want to use keyboard idle detent
-
Hi @oakdesign, it’s not marked
maybe it’s some flag in code
-
@waltherppk I also use mousewheel as throttle (ps check out my https://github.com/arithex/DragWheel tool, it might be of use).
Strictly speaking, mousewheel is not a supported axis in BMS, but it seems to work kinda ok … I haven’t noticed any (new) problems with U3.
From https://github.com/arithex/DragWheel :
Review related settings in falcon bms.cfg file:
- (required) Disable the analog idle-cutoff detent:
set g_bUseAnalogIdleCutoff 0
- (recommended) Disable wheel-knobs to avoid grabbing and spinning random knobs by accident:
set g_bMouseWheelKnobs 0
(Maybe g_bMouseWheelKnobs = 0 is required? Not sure… give it a try.)
- (required) Disable the analog idle-cutoff detent:
-
g_bUseAnalogIdleCutoff 0
Is as well set through the Configurator checkbox. So if it’s not picked it’s set to 0 otherwise if ticked set to 1
-
@oakdesign, it’s marked 0 in my .config file
-
@airtex2019, the mousewheelknobs was set to 1, i set it to 0 but it didn’t made any difference the idle detent key still doesn’t work in ramp, and the hotspot doesn’t work as well
-
@waltherppk By any chance do you (or did you formerly) use Alternative Launcher?
-
@airtex2019, no i haven’t, I never tried the AL
-
@waltherppk hmm darn I’m out of ideas.
-
Nerver played around with using mouse as throttle. But can you check to set throttle back to keyboard. Other than that with throttle set to an axis it should be become second nature to move the throttle axis overthe full range before starting up the engine to ensure BMs is in sync with the axis
-
@oakdesign and @airtex2019 Thanks for the help!
I tried your advice and discovered what happened now.
When you use mousewheel as an axis in advanced setup, every time you start in 3D the throttle is in about 50% throttle. The other thing is that the axis is inverted so you need to push up to reduce and pull down the wheel to accelerate.
Idle detent will only work if your throttle is in idle, which is not the case with using the mousewheel as it starts with a value already.
When I reduced the throttle to idle again the detent worked perfectly.
Sorry to bother you guys, I believe I have forgotten about this detail
Thanks again,
Best Regards -
every time you start in 3D the throttle is in about 50% throttle
@waltherppk Very true … side note: be very very careful if you choose “taxiway start” lol
-
@airtex2019 thats true, first thing always is put the throttle down and hit the brakes asap
