Mousewheel
-

Hi,can’t use the mousewheel on the HSI course or heading knob as well as the altimeter knob. Worked fine in previous versions but now have to click mouse buttons to + or - gauges. Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions. TIA.

afaik this is changed via the following setting in your “.\Falcon BMS 4.35\User\Config\falcon bms.cfg”
A “1” allows it, “0” disallows it

set g_bMouseWheelKnobs 1 // Allows mouse wheel to turn knobs in 3d pit

Was already set at 1, reset at 1 but still no luck.

Wish I could help more, I honestly thought it was that… I had the same issue way back and this resolved it.

For troubleshooting, it may be best to ask a few basics – what brand/model mouse is it? Had any hardware or major software that governs the mouse changed since your had it working fine in previous versions?

Hopefully, there is another simple thing we’ve both overlooked here, and someone will point it out.
Not sure what else it could be <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f937.png?v=n15mefgnel8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–shrug” /> but here are some random ideas / things to look for.

1) do you have mousewheel mapped as an “axis” in any of the settings (throttle, wheelbrake, hud brightness, audio volume, etc) …

2) do you have the mousewheel callback functions remapped … in your cfg file search for ‘g_sScrollUpFunction’ or ‘g_sScrollDownFunction’

(I’m not sure how either of those things are supposed to work, when combined with ‘g_bMouseWheelKnobs’…)

Had partial success, when i go into avionics control in advanced option i can set one knob on the mouse wheel but not all 3. when one is set eg,heading or course the only option I have on the other 2 are keyboard or joystick/rudder.

@21Kona oops sorry I wasn’t clear – selecting mousewheel as an input source, on the advanced/avionics setup page, is not well tested or supported by BMS currently. I was recommending you don’t do that (set them all to “keyboard” default) and see if that fixes your g_bMouseWheelKnobs behavior

You have bound the mouse-wheel to a function - and this can only be done for one item as you’ve discovered. As airtex wrote, you need to unbind this from the mousewheel, and let it just be a mousewheel. Then it will function for any knob you hover over in the cockpit, given the cfg file setting as described above.

Try that and let us know if it’s all good now. (I would assume it will be, now that we know ‘why’ this occurred) <img src=“/plugins/nodebb-plugin-emoji/emoji/android/1f37b.png?v=n15mefgnel8” alt=“” class=“not-responsive emoji emoji-android emoji–beers” />

Problem solved although still not sure how I had it in the first place as I hadn’t altered any of the 4.35 setting when I installed it. Many thanks for all your help. LB.
