Solved Downloading & seeding BMS 4.36 using transmission
-
I am googling “how to install qbittorrent” under OMV
-
@Pegasus82 I use dietpi as a base for all other installations. Makes it very simple to use.
-
@MaxWaldorf said in Invalid or corrupt torrent file:
Torrent files use v2 / hybrid format…
please use qbittorrent or newer software
Cheers
I use qbuit and at least 6 times I had to force the DL because of hash error or some kind of such msg from the client.
-
I am also experiencing the same issues as described by the others.
The torrents (also the ones for the Georgia and Baltic theaters) work fine with qbittorent, but most other clients do not support v2 or hybrid torrents properly.I am usually using a client based on Transmission running on my NAS, which is also unable to parse the torrents.
Even adding them via the magnet URI and removing the v2 torrent hashes did not help as a workaround.Doubtful if the benefits of v2 torrents outweigh, the current lack of support for the format with most clients.

@bwRavencl I use rtorrent to seed from my ‘always on’ computer. That works well and is a very small package to install, maybe it is available for your NAS as well?
-
My NAS offers qbittorrent as well…
-
Unfortunately not an option in my case.
Anyhow, it is just like @Pegasus82 already pointed out: an inconvenience, but not a hard problem for people like us.
I already got what I wanted…However, this might still cause issues for the folks not technically versed with BT and different BT clients and it will reduce the amount of people willing to seed, like in our cases.
Just my 2 cents.
-
I understand but don’t worry the seed pool is quite good and my server will continue to host them so we will not run out of hosts
-
According to git the next transmission release supposedly supports hybrid style torrents so there’s hope.
Can qbittorrent be run headless / via web interface like transmission somehow? I’d like to add my 300mbit / sec server bandwidth to the seeding pool for 4.36 ASAP
Cheers, Uwe

@hoover qbittorrent has a web client…
-
Thanks max, I’ve now installed deluge on my VMs to help with seeding 4.36, was rather easy to set up and works nicely.
All the best, Uwe

It took me a while, but I upgraded to OMV6, and am using Docker and Portainer within OMV6 to host qbittorrent (as well as gluetun).
If anyone wants to follow, here is a good guide/channel to follow.
